I'm just wondering about this. I thinking either TurboXS or Injen FMIC OR possible eBay FMIC. People say about cutting out bumper beam for big fmic. Can this be done in one day?

some FMICs come with a replacement bumper beam... i'd recommend going with a branded one instead of an ebay special...

We did Kris's in a night...if you could call it that. It's a good bit of work, but its straightforward and is a good test of your testicular fortitude (cutting into various things). You'll need the right tools as well, that's a biggie. I would also recommend a branded one rather than ebay.

I really like the perrin one. It comes with all the parts ou need. The hard part is cutting the front bumper. Which isn't really hard.. just pains taking. You are going to increase your lag with a fmic. You upgrading a turbo too?

i'm saving money into it. My budget is at $1200 for (momentumturbo EJ5-40T + Pinks + fuelpump) + $100 for extra engine cooling stuffs. FMIC will add another grand. Plus tuning on my ecutek. Keep tossing idea of should i add fmic or not...

oh yeah, add perrin turbo inlet hose as well. oh no.. that's another two large bills.

haha and better brake pads for compensate more power. there goes ANOTHER two large bills. damn... will this really all worth it??

get the new turbo and stick with the STi TMIC... u can then decide if u wouldnt mind more lag for more power

that's true, but don't wanna waste money on tuning twice. As long as boost comes on near 4k rpm, i can live with it.

I have seen plenty of turbo's run in the 350 to 400 whp range on the stock sti top mount. The top mount should be plenty for now. I would stick with that.

You could be experimental and go for a vmount and have much less lag and a bigger IC...but that's neither here nor there.

i say do i all at once if u have the money for it..i never had an sti top mount i went from stock top mount to front mount..the lag is not that much 200rpms at the most. the installation is not difficult just time consuming..getting the bumper to fit just right was the hardest part for me..most big front mounts come with a new bumper beam..i got the injen front mount and had to cut part of the beam that has the brackets for the foglights..i say go for it!

So even Injen fmic needs to CUT some of metal?? i thought they were just bolt on... I'm gonna keep researching more.

yea..i was told you do not have to cut the beam..which is true..i didnt have to cut the beam..just the side brackets that surround the foglights..

Advice, use a boxcutter to cut the bumper(Fresh blades) Painters tape to mark the edges, very easy once I tried it, had i used one the whole time would have been cake. But i didnt, so it was off to dantes inferno.

My Perrin was done by me and one of my friends in 4 hrs. He did the pipe install while I did the bumper cutting. It isn't the best but pretty good I think for a first timer. I didn't even think to use painters tape. Use a box cutter. Here's a tip....you don't have to cut all the way through. Once you cut almost halfway into the material....basically cut through the paint and the primer you can bend the bumper at the cut and it'll literally pop right off.
