i got my tien coilovers in 04 and now when i go over the speed bumps in my subdivision they make noise. i was wondering if i have to replace or rebuild the struts and if i ever have to do anything with the springs. anyone know?

overtime, the struts will need to be revalved but the springs should be fine... go to SOG and have either SS or WJM drive it and they should be able to direct you accordingly

You are probally due for a rebuild, I think the suggested interval for Teins is 15k miles. But I'm not sure. The rebuild isn't to expensive.

How do you know its the coilovers? A lot of suspension noises are from swaybars. Is it a squeek, clunk, or rattle?

man my car squeaks when it's cold out and then slowly goes away.....I think it's my sway bars perhaps? I used decent amount of the Mobil F1 red gook.

my suspension squeaks whenever i go over really severe speedbumps that i have to take going at like <1mph. It's like a really really old matress squeak i think.

Definitely swaybar. Those Teins should last 30k before revalving unless you are tracking every month. Check out the bushings, they may need some more Li grease.

personally i'd expect bad roads to take a greater toll on coilovers than a nice smooth track surface

Thats a good point, but the dampening is always set much higher when on the track. The soft street dampening should allow the strut to move a lot more and sustain the bumps better.

i guess it could be the sways, the more the bounce the more the squeek. i just didn't think i had that many miles on them to need a rebuild but i didn't know.

Anyone know the price of a rebuild for teins, JIC, etc...

    pEd This ain't no Piccadilly!

I think (the last time I looked into it) the Teins were about $150/each to rebuild.
