how often do you reflash?

So I noticed that my car has had a weird idle, a fairly noticable mpg decrease and I felt like it wasnt making as much power as it was. I contacted SS and Doug (separately) about a tunes expiration and possibly getting retuned. I added a walbro fuel pump since I got tuned. I want more power and I asked what could I do to make a lil more without upgrading turbos. SS got back to me and said that a tune doesnt have an expiration. lol I mean Im a chef not a mechanic or tuner so I was just wondering if a car needs to be retuned at anytime if there were no major changes. Well it was time for my oil change and I reflashed to the map SS made for me in 2008. WOW my gas mileage is back as well as the power and the idle is normal. Ive reflashed maybe twice a year since my tune. But this last time my car feels exactly like it did when I left topspeed that day in 2008. Whats the cause of my cars idle and mpg changing like that? And how often do you guys reflash?

Accidental reset maybe? I used to reflash it whenever I unplugged the battery (or it died)

What year is your car? Weren't the 07 ecus a bit tricky and made changes?

Or it's all in your head.

its an 06. Well I have changed the battery since and had the battery disconnected a few times. Maybe thats it. Idk. But the idle when I crunk the car up it would stutter a lil then catch up. After I reflashed my brother was even like did you do something different your car sounds better. lol I guess the power loss could be in my head but the idle was def weird.

that or simply a loose ground from disconnecting the battery a bunch. a loose or dirty ground is a very common problem and stutters, rough idles, or even misfires are common maladies of such

what are you running? AP or opensource?

once flashed the ecu will adjust itself over time on things like fuel trims. when you 'reflash' you set it back to whatever the base was. I would assume that disconnecting the battery would do the same thing.

with the access port there are some things that can be set without a 'reflash'. you upload settings into the realtime tables. now if you had a e85 tune with an access port, you could make adjustments to some of the realtime tables and run 93oct without a true flash (i do this). if you disconnected the battery, the realtime tables/settings would return to the e85 settings, requiring you to reload the realtime tables from your access port to run 93 oct. Not what i would call a 'reflash' though. you can do this with a laptop running access tuner race. this is what i prefer since i will tweak a few things after logging and watching fuel trims and the wideband.

you could if you wished reflash the ECU to the 93oct settings so that even with a battery disconnect the ECU would always return to the base 93 oct settings.

i will assume that all settings are 'reflashed' with opensource. though i have opensource a a tactrix 2.0 cable, i use it for logging and running a dashboard, not for tuning. there are no realtime tables in opensource (i could be wrong though).

Probably a combo of battery and need of an oil change. All good now. Thanks guys
