So I have had my 02 since May of this year and the car has very few mods.

Prodrive Springs, Whiteline Upper Strut Brace, Perrin Rear Sway w/ whiteline endlinks, and 18" Crimson K6 wheels.

Now I wanna go fast, how does this list sound:

    Ultimate Racing Turboback
    Ultimate Racing UpPipe
    Big 16g
    Cobb Protune
    PE650 Injectors
    Walbro 255lph
    STi or larger Topmount

    Opinions Needed!!!

might need more than 600cc injectors with the 18g... i was recommended nothing smaller than 720cc for my super 16g

Just mod the stock injectors and get them flow tested. Worked for me and only cost $100.

also, I know people hate this question. But I have seen mixed power levels with 18g Internally gated. is 300-330whp achieveable? some guys have made more! I just hate wasting $$ and not getting it right the first time. Also I want streetability 100%! lol

with meth injection or race gas, definitely

on pump pas, i haven't seen too many EJ20s break 310whp

My 93 octane map had 304 hp and 296 tq on my Topspeed tune. My Scott Siegel meth map on a dyno near Charlotte, NC hit 358 tq and 352 hp.

I'm not sure if the words 18G and total streetability really go that well together, but of course you can drive anything on the street if you wanna do it badly enough.

This is the part where people tell me how horribly wrong I am. :D

Make sure you drive an 18G car and see if you can live with the lag, too.

Also, I would probably go with a larger ebay intercooler than the STi one unless you can get a really sweet deal on it.

Coolrex, how did your 18G spool before meth?

Moose is right about the IC.

It is a nice touch if you like staying with the OEM look and everything but there are better units out there for around the same price..... more or less.

If you do go with the STi piece make sure you get the Y-pipe to go with it or else you might find yourself fabraicating something.

JJang12 is local and has an 18g on his WRX... if u wanna request him for a ride :)

Pretty decent. Full boost by 3800-4000. Lag in my opinion is not how long it takes the turbo to spool. It's whether it has to spool again after shifting which I don't. Soon as I shift, I am instantly at full boost.

yeah, this is still my daily and I drive from College Park to Alpharetta everyday to work. I want that power level, but I may have to go slightly smaller in size....

I would just trade in your wrx for an STi :) We were thinking about upgrading out WRX, but decided on just getting an STi, and couldn't be happier with the car.

    STi >> modded WRX IMO

To each his own but even though it'll cost a little more (well it evens out)
EJ257 WRX with PPG 5 speed > 6 speed STi.

Well the STi is a lot nicer for all you spoiled little rich kids........... :hsugh:

    JUST KIDDING! :D

But seriously not everyone can afford or even get financed for a 35,000 dollar car so the STi isn't even an option. Unless of course you want to go used.

lol, yeah! The next car I finance will be an M3, hands down....(or an NSX). Although I would likt the STi potential, I dont want to up my current payment. The Super 16g will probably do the trick. A Search on here and NASIOC helped me a lot.

My plan is quality used parts and retaining all the stock stuff just in case it needs to go bye bye.

Sounds good man. On the NSX, don't bother....we have one and it's SLOW!

But its not greater than the 07 STI, 07 has new gears 4th now pulls to 114mph.

First the off topic part, If you have the money trade it in on an STI its really worth it in the long run, my car will probally be at SOG the same time coolrexs is feel free to ask Scott to take you for a ride if I am not there.

    On topic.

The 18g is a great turbo, you arent going to make much over 300hp without meth.

When we had a 30r on my brothers car it really didnt spool that much slower than the 18g and it made 350hp on pump gas with no meth. We made 407hp with race gas. No lag between shifts and I think we had full boost by 4000-4300 depending on how hot the manifold was.

You cango both routes and be happy. I really thought hard about the STI Vs supping the bugeye. In the end, used Sti is 24k at best. For the extra 10k I can have PPG gears (stronger than sti), a Sti short block with forged pistons and balanced rotating assembly (stronger than an Sti), a bigger turbo and ported wrx heads with cams (flows as good or better than Sti). The only downside is that it probably won't have the resale of an Sti, but it will be faster, stronger and less likely to break.

You will be the first EWG 2.0 liter I've seen. It think it's overkill... (just trying to save you a little money)

The PE 850's are side-feed (STi only) the PE 800's are top. I really doubt you'll need that much injector. PE 650, modded stock (Deatschwerks are better) or even '06 WRX might be enough...

Yeah but it handles like a fuckin beast, and it's dead sexy. I've love to own one, especially if I was planning on tracking it. And you can always mod it :)

The only drawback I've heard (other than mediocre power) is that because of the aggressive suspension set-up the tires wear out super fast.

  33. Cool_____

    Cool_____ Banned

That it does handle like a dream. I simply love our widebody NSX...too bad it has 20" rims on it even though it grips the road like glue.

We have found a twin turbo kit for it and SS hopefully will be the lucky tuner if we can get some info on that kit. Then it'll be quick and FUN!

On the tire I don't know. We have Tein Flexes on ours and some other goodies for handling and the tires wear darn good. Almost better than my WRX.

I do agree that the 44 is better than the 38... I don't think EWG is necessary, but if you're going EWG, the 44 is better. I also have a few in stock.

ok, I read that the 44 was for fairly larger sized turbos. Just curious, can you explain how its over kill?

  36. siegelracing

    siegelracing Registered Vendor<br><b><font color="#666666">bion

You only "need" an EWG if you can't bleed enough with an IWG... Generally that's only an issue with BIG turbos trying to run lower boost. The 18G doesn't count as a BIG turbo. I've tuned a BUNCH of 18G's and none had EWG's... Hence and EWG on that setup is "overkill."

The Tial 38's are a really poor 2-bolt flange. The Tial 44's are a beautiful V-band clamp.

[threadjack] You should definitely make a different with pics of this car (and any other awesome cars you may deal with :)). I know you have a few in your journal, but that just teases me. You did make me feel bad however for saying an a werdy dird :(. Haha but it's cool![/threadjack]

On topic, I've always thought of EWG as pretty hardcore and not something you'd want or need on a wrx (unless it was just beastiest wrx ever).

AirMax also consider EWG is freaking loud. My non-hearing deaf self (for those who don't know me I am legally deaf like 80% loss in both ears) called SS one morning and I heard a car rev and then this plain ol OBNOXIOUS noise through the phone. I asked SS WTF was that! He told me it was the EWG.....that made my mind to never go EWG unless I plumb back into the downpipe.

lol.....yeah, there was a Black STi on 400 about 2 weeks ago with Tennessee tags. He pulled up next to then shot off, he was EWG'd and it was freaking loud.....but mean as piss! I just called a friend of mine and he talked me out of it.

the purpose was b/c i was planning for long term mods, but the car may get traded in for a newer TL or M3........

    so no EWG...

You can plumb an external back into the downpipe and its as quite as a internal.
