I was wondering if anyone has tried or knows how hard it would be to drop a sti IC sprayer on a regular wrx. (using the stock or STI TMIC)
I have a STI splitter and just hooked up the washer bottle hose to it. Works okay but when I spray the wipers are on. I have to figure that out, maybe a sprayer switch and a low pressure pump to help the flow.
I use an STi spray nozzle from the dealer (about $5) and a draw through aftermarket washer pump from Napa wired to a switch inside. The nozzle is a snap in piece so you just have to drill a hole where you want it and file it square-ish. There is plenty of space on the stock WRX piece but remember the I/C is not centered beneath the scoop so the spray nozzle should be toward the driver's side. The draw through pump pulls water through the existing washer pump w/ a "Y" connector so it works indepedently of the windshield washer, though when spraying the windshield there is a small trickle to the I/C when spraying the windshield, but not vice versa. Now I have the same stuff spraying my FMIC w/ the use of a t'ed check valve so it doesn't siphon since the sprayer is now lower than the water tank.
for sedan its simple the washer bottle should have an empty spot on there that can add a pump for the IC sprayer. triggering it has many ways For wagons you have options as well - use the rear sprayer pump and disconnect the intermitent fuse so when IC spray your rear wipers dont turn on and you can use the switch on the stalk or you can make a Pressure switch connected to a 3rd pump and parallel a switch to the cockpit for manual squirts. Pressure switch sets to a preset pressure and will spray wehn setpoint is exceeded and manual swtch can spray when below setpoint. - should cost about $45 to build a complete kit - i did
Its great to be cold but consistancy is the value You cant take advantage of the colder intake charge if you dont tune for it. If you tune for it then if you arent spraying then you may be in the "caution zone" Because the IAT is not measured post IC
exactly which is why i am weighing both options. i fabbed a CO2 sprayer on my DSM. but i am not sure about the mod path as of yet
