I'm looking for a suspension setup for my 2004 wrx to replace the old worn out 166k miles springs and struts. I have all the bushings for the car, front, rear and diff bushings and am also going to be doing ball joints, wheel bearings, tie rods, and probably a set of sways & endlinks. I'd like to know if anyone will let me check out their suspension setup to see how it rides. I'm looking for a track suspension that can be streetable. Can anyone help me out? --Matt
I think it may work better for you, long term, to have the attitude that you are searching for a solid street suspension which you may also take on the track. My suggestion is a combination of upgraded struts and springs as well as a few other items including bushings, sway bars, endlinks, etc. I do not recommend that you choose coilovers unless you are looking for that certain "stance". I'd suspect that may not be the case given that you're asking before buying
I already have bushings for the whole car. Endlinks and swaybars are next on the procurement list and so are balljoints, wheel bearings, tierod ends, top hats. I do want coilovers for when I start HPDE. I'd also want to be able to adjust ride height, camber, and dampening accordingly.
I felt that may KYB AGX's were a good street setup. I hear a ton of good things about koni strut inserts and I'm sure those are much better. Matched up with ground control coilover sleeves and a good spring ratre would be a good setup. there are also plently od coilover options. Coilover are not always harsh. Go for a lower spring rate ie 5k,6k. A lot of good things have been said about the TIC coilovers for the street.
Great point! Most people do not take this into factor. I hit the track almost every weekend but I still do 90% of my driving on the street as it is my only car. There was a guy on base with a gutted r33 GTR and no AC because he said he raced Time attack. I never did see him at the track but I did find I very amusing when I pulled on him on the highway then got to watch him and his wife have to open his doors to cool off. No AC no doorcards no window controls. All while I was comfortable in my AC. I don't race for money so why should I remove creature comforts to gain a few tenths at the track? This is not directed towards the OP. Just getting it off my chest I suppose. Just something for people to ponder.
