I thought I would throw this out there for some expert opinions since I am no expert LOL. Car runs great accept right above idle between 1k-3k in frist. It is an odd situation. It is not a consistent condition. It happens sporadically. When it occurrs the car idles strong and holds solid at 700 but when you hit the gas you need to get into about half the peddle prior to the engine getting up to speed to get the clutch to engage. Sometimes need to rev it a few times from idle prior to engaging clutch. Clutch is new and shifts fine when engine is up to speed in all gears. It is definitely the engine speed not matching the clutch. It feels like fuel starvation or injector lag but this is just a hunch. The only other situation which happens that may be related is once in a while the engine will surge slightly at idle and the lights flicker with it. This may be a loose battery connection since it corrects itself after I re tighten the cables, (sometimes they shake looseO). I am going to get the battery(which is new) and the alternator checked out tomorrow, to be on the safe side.

The mods to this are vehicle are: exhaust; up, down, cat back, big 16g turbo, Sti TMIC, Walbro and DW 565's, ported UI, tgv deletes, APS hard pipe, deleted fuel return, Perrin Boost Solenoid, ACT organic stg 1 clutch, BC Coilovers, Big sways, Perrin rear end links, SS tune. There are no check engine lights. MAF was recently cleaned. All boost leaks and vacuum leaks recently checked and repaired by Top Speed, prior to the SS tune. I have been getting an erratic fuel smell but I believe this is due to the fuel return delete. All the injectors are seated well and dry.

I have an updated AP with the firmware for data logging. If somebody could suggest when the optimal situation to data log is I will do it and post the results.

    Thanks

You have a fuel return line, It sounds more like a post maf intake leak to me, I would check all the clamps on the inlet as well as the BOV.

Check your injectors. My car was doing this and my problem my injector gromet got destroyed so it leaked.

Check your plug wires and coilpack. We just had this problem on Cathy's car and it turned out to be that one plug wire was broken and super corroded so it was only making a decent spark 30 percent of the time.

Sounds like a coil pack failing. Mine did that on the dyno but thanks to Topspeed they had a spare.

If your lights are flickering it is almost DEFINITELY a problem with the battery / battery connection...

Hey, I'm following your post to see what your solution is. I'm having a similar problem. Please keep us updated on this idle issue.

    Thanks

Okay update...Slowwrx was right on the money. There was a crack in the hose that runs from the BOV to Turbo inlet(post MAF intake leak). Very hard to see since the crack was on the underside of the hose and buried under the UI. Big thanks to Zen Motors. They were able to get me in short notice for a pressure test and found the leak it in about 5 minutes. Also big thanks to SOK and Kingwrx. They located the hose within 12 hours (nobody had it in stock and eta's were 24-48hrs to get the part) and swapped it in next day within 24hrs. Hopefully now I can fully enjoy all the benefits of my SS tune.
