Hey guys: I am swapping cars for the night with a co-worker. He wants to drive my 06 TT roadster and I want to check out the redesigned 08 Coupe. Are there any car hangouts tonight? Does anyone want to check this thing out? I drove it the other night and it is pretty fun and classy looking. I more manly upgrade over the 06 for sure.
yes...bring it over to Brian & Mere's house for the Siegel party...I have wanted to see one of the new 08's
I'm jealous, I saw one of these in Madrid last christmas and they're teh sex. A very big improvement over the wussy looking old style TTs.
I believe it does have launch control. The orignal is not wussy, it is classy!!!! I'd come over there but they live out in Mableton!!! WTF That's like Alabama
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=6017+Rosie+Ln+SE,+Mableton,+GA+30126,+USA&sa=X&oi=map&ct=title yeah i live about 5 miles from the city limits of atlanta, that's really alabama!
I also live in Dunwoody and planning to attend this party, so on the way back home we can see what little TT can do
launch control! I hope you didn't sell your wrx yet, as you are signed up for the subaru challenge. If you absolutely have to sell it, wait until after the Subaru Challenge!
We'll since it is not my car, I'll be doing the driving. The launch control is pretty cool. I've used in the GTI's before. You hold the brake and gas at the same time. The RPM's go up to 3100 RPM's until you are ready to get off the brake. They you leave the line with the perfect amount of wheel spin. I demonstrated this feature for MPaone before on a Fahrenheit GTI one afternoon. It may sound like brake torqueing an auto tranny but in reality it is nothing like it. You are not fighting with a torque converter's stall speed. It is just like dumping the clutch on a stick but with perfect technique every time. Very German and precise. The car looks like this: Oh and I still plan on attending the Suabru Challenge no matter what happens with my car (which looks like nothing at this point)
Somehow I think the EVO IX's launch control is better. It's almost like a two-step rev limiter set at 5000rpm from the factory, so basically when you are at the line and the rpm bounces around 5000 and builds boost with your foot to the floor on the gas pedal, let out the clutch and grab second, it is a perfect launch every time. It eliminates the part of modulating throttle and focusing on how fast you are letting out of the clutch, seeing it in real life is pretty amazing. The entire car sling-shots forward with zero wheel spin, the car nose barely dips when you grab 2nd and most likely at that time is when the other car will see the taillights if the spider gears are holding up The car is sweet looking
the EVO system isn't like a chatter box, it is more like a "save the companywarranty money" system. But If you've seen it in person I yield to your experience
i just wish these were rwd and then it would be something i would definitely consider for a future car
do you like it better than the Boxster you were considering, Patrick? and did i read that right, you own an older TT? somehow i missed that.
The TT does have a wing, it deploys at 60 mph or so. Randy, the TT is a very different animal then the boxster. I'll admit it isn't quite the purpose built sports car as the boxster but it is still very, very good. Even for a FWD. But yes, we do have an 06 Boxster roadster. It looks like this one: 3.2 Liter VR6 DSG Tranny (best tranny ever) Quatro AWD The new TT was more luxurious then the old one. Somehow I think the old one is more fun. It is like the old R32 vs the new R32
