Intake Wrap: what do you guys think?

So, I just felt like doing a little DIY on my CAI... :)

So I bought this heat wrap, low grade stuff that isn't suitable for high heat. Cut it up, wrapped it around the intake as shown and now I'm just wondering what you guys think about it. Does it seem like it would help, hurt or none of the above?

I mean it should reflect some of the engines heat from around the protected part of the tube. I haven't yet seen any results from my ScanGuage but it seems like it should work...

Cut a MAF sized hole in the wrap...

    Put it on the tube....

    Trimmed it up.......

    And finished it off...

Hmm shouldn't hurt unless it ends up getting warmer and absorbing more. Never really liked physics class so I'm a bit dodgy on heat waves and absorbtion.

I used this on the intercooler piping that runs above the turbo

Yeah ok. It was just as much for fun as anything else. I'm going to be in the field for two weeks playing army so I had to do a little tinkering beforehand to feed the addiction. Lol.

I guess it did turn out to look ok too. :D
