Is it worth it.......

......to do any kind of a mod to a 2008 2.5i to get a little better sound out of the exhaust?

I know how to rip it up on my BMX bike, but I do not know squat about engines, exhaust, etc. But, I love the sound of a nice exhaust on Subies.

If there is, what are your recommendations?

if the sound is what you want then it is worth it

 

a catback from an 08 sti or 09 wrx should give you more rumble for cheap. or just buy an aftermarket one

 

I doubt the 08 STi muffler will fit due to the bumper differences. Otherwise a catback will do nicely.

I'd prefer to retrofit the borla header and random tech high flow cat on it to give it the classic boxer sound.

 

Would this work on a 08 non-WRX? It's 2.5i only with a 1 1/4 receiver hitch too.

May not be enough room for fitting ??

To get the sound you're thinking of you're probably also going to need some unequal length headers. You can get borla replicas for relatively cheap and they sound great. Add a catback and PROFIT.

 

you'd likely have to custom spec the stuff.

 

The headers probably wouldn't be an issue, but a custom exhaust would probably have to be part of the setup. Thats probably better since custom exhaust tends to be cheaper.

 

well, with the borla/RT stuff you'd have to make A/F and O2 sensor harness extenders. Then come up with a catback that fits.
