I just got a 2002 wrx, the previous owner had installed an HKS cat back exhaust that sounds good and I just installed a SPT (Subaru Performance Tuning) intake from the dealship at Gwinnett. What else would be something that would be around the price range of a couple hundred dollars that will improve the performace, especially low end torque more?

Not much you can do that is cheap to increase low end torque. Congrats on the new wrx and welcome to the community

congrats on the purchase, I love my 02....

    will a header/uppipe combo be beneficial on a 2.0L

not so sure about headers... but uppipe will give a noticable improvement...

plus, if u go with equal length headers, u will lose the nice boxer rumble

i wouldnt touch the header as you normally lose the boxer sound and gain nothing. uppipe would be a better way to go.

one of the best things you can do is get the car tuned...that's about $150 give or take depending on where you go

Where can I get a professional tune for $150? I thought tuning was usually like $120 an hour...

Do you have an up-pipe? If not i'd recommend a gutted up-pipe (Ill hook you up with one). You should be good performance, and should consider investing in some sways bars. Also consider upgrading your tires to something a bit more performance oriented (you'll be impressed with the results). And for (cheap) aesthetics clear your headlights :) (http://www.wrxatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10006)

uppipes are a good choice. Flex and gutted are easier to install but you'll get smoother airflow with a solid pipe. In the end, it's mostly personal preference unless you're really pushing a lot of exhaust through the pipe. but I would recommend thermal wrap or buying a thermally coated pipe because after market won't have the shielding of the stock pipe, so this will help keep the stray heat away from wires and other temperature sensitive parts. Welcome to the boards! hope to see you at some meets!

I got the subaru from a friend who got it when he turned 17, he drove it a year and then sold it to me. I am a bit older than him so he gave me a good deal on a good solid car.

Yeah, not going to get a pro tune for that kind of coin... however you can get a tactrix cable for $90 and load stage 1 osecuroms map. :naughty:
