Bought a perrin tbe exhaust for my sti. just wondering how hard the install is if i do it myself? any special tools or anything? also is there anyone near atlanta that can do this install for a resonable price. i would like to get it done either on friday or sat this week.
You can do it with a jack, jack stands, and a basic tool set. The install is fairly simple, the up-pipe is the tricky one. Also you might consider heatwrap on the downpipe to greatly lower underhood temps.
Invest in some PB Blaster and you should be fine. However, it is not unheard of to have crossthreaded studs/bolts from the factory which can turn into a real pain... disregarding that, install is pretty damn easy.
just lube it up man.....i put my TBE on in about 2 hrs flat. It always helps to have a helper htough and especially if its someone you know.
If I can, I'd be more than willing to give you a hand. Not sure how my schedule is going to look on either day. Worst case, I'll give you my number and I'll walk you through whatever you need to know.
Just need some WD40 set 14m wrench and socket along with a 12 for nut on res. should be easy not too hard. Use the 40 or brake cleaner to get them off an on hope it works out OK.
i just did the heat wrap this weekend, make sure you get the 2" if you do it, and expect the downpipe to smell really bad for a day:barf: BTW you may want to pick up a new down pipe gasket before you install it, to keep it from leaking, trust me.
I posted up a detailed TBE install awhile ago w/ pics... http://forums.wrxatl.com/showthread.php?t=2358 Any wrap left over? I have some extra metal wire...
