Whats going on guys, I was just wondering if anyone knows if the K&N air filter for an '08 wrx will work for the 09 wrx hb... K&N said they haven't tested it yet but I am assuming (common sense)that it should fit on the '09? Thx!

Just a word of caution...if you plan on buying an oiled filter like the K&N, plan on also buying a MAF sensor cleaning spray and cleaning it EVERY time you service your filter. I would plan on doing the filter and then in 100-200 miles after servicing the filter cleaning the MAF sensor as it will get some nastiness on it from the oil on the filter.

thanks for the help/insight man... I guess I'm just going to wait for K&N to look at the car instead of trying to rig an 08

  4. Isn't the factory air filter similar to a k+n style?I know its treated w/oil(?). though it may not flow as much..

I thought 08 and 09 had the same engine setup. o_O

Never used a factory one, but all the ones I have ever seen were just paper filters.

    Buy a non-oiled one.

oiled filters are only bad if over oiled and left on longer than should.
Dont immediately place it back on car after wash and oil - its too wet to use

    I have 3 k&n and rotate them = never and issue 9
I replace them every 2 oil changes / 6mo. i look at the front of MAF and not a drop of anything.

I always wash two and let dry for a few days before lightly oil it - when its red its too oily

I have also used them with no issues. As long as you follow the proper procedure, and check the MAF they are fine. Just one extra step.

Just one extra hassle...not worth it IMO.

Well, sometimes you have to go outside the factory box. It will only flow so much ;) But on a stock location turbo or close, you are right, probably not worth it.
