Tire Rack has Kumho ECSTA 711 tires on close-out: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes.jsp?make=Kumho&model=ECSTA+711 They aren't the best tires, but are quite cheap and much better than the stock RE-92s on the wrx. I am not getting these for my car, but I figured that I would pass on the good deal to you guys. If they had them in 14" sizes, I would get them for my crx.. (need 185/60-14). -- Brian
how good or bad are they compare to price and value I have a set of 17s in the garage that needs some shoes
These tires will be more than adequate for street driving. I wouldn't take them to the track if I was going to be running 10/10ths, but even "H" rated, you'll be able to exceed the speed limit on an off ramp pretty easily....
I was told that the RE-92's on my wagon have a better rating than the normal ones that I had on my old sedan. I appreciate the info Brian. Are these Kumho 711's any good for mtn. runs?. Mark
A brand new set of 711s came on my car when I bought it. Wouldn't buy them again. They don't have nearly enough grip even for mountain runs, let alone autocross or track. GT East recommended the BFG gForce sport for a good cheap tire. The difference was night and day even taking exit ramps. Spend a few extra bucks and get a proper tire.
I just killed a set of those.....not a HALF bad tire...I still love my Falken 451 Beta's, but these are a close second behind those...on mountain runs, they were a little noisy, but were effective, fun tires. these tires are FAR beyond the 712. and they're not noisy when driving normal. only in the mountains....
