Well I just got finished trying to get these two to work together...turns out that the newest version of the Lc-1 is no longer compatible with the Street Tuner software. I spoke with Innovate and they said they have changed their protocol for the LC-1. I talked to Christian and he said that they would start working on it, but they have SEMA and AP 2.0 coming out so it may be a while as they have their engineers dedicated to other products and this is not a priority. So if you are planning this combo you will have to monitor the LC-1 through a gauge or their Logworks 2.0 software. Not sure if this has any effect on the new LM-1 products or not. Kind of annoying as I was just about to start working with my car some and tuning. I really would rather see the two in a log side by side rather than having to go seat of the pants. Might have to wait or hit a dyno. This kind of pisses me off as the only reason I ordered the two was so that I would have a functioning wideband that could be logged side by side with the tuning software....
Oh as a side note, I can still monitor it in Logworks just fine (software provided with the LC-1) so it is not a problem with the LC-1, just Cobb not staying on top of their software.
thats a let down... sorry to hear that... thanks for sharing though... hopefully people planning on going this route can learn from your experience
In theory they will eventually get it up and running...I just went the LC-1 route as opposed to the LM-1 route to save cash and becuase I did not see the need for the LM-1 if I was going to use the ST software. I just hope they fix this crap soon. I am not too optomistic though as Christian told me that they have other priorites right now with SEMa and the new AP 2.0...seems to me they should keep their existing customer base happy first, but that seems to be the modern trend these days.
Doh, guess I'll take back my comments about paying a premium to get good support. :/ I'll let you know once the wideband integration into the enginuity logger is done, if ST isn't ready by then you'll be able to use that for logging.
Personally, I think Cobb's customer service is excellent. In terms of tuning Christian is generally responsive to your emails and posts. Cobb is a business, they make their decisions on both satisfying their customer base and propelling their company further into the edge of tuning technology. SEMA is more than likely one of their largest showcases for the year and from what I know about Cobb, their company more than likely is not large enough to support employees both there and back at home. What wideband setup is mike using?
Just FYI, Christian has already e-mailed all the Protuners about this. Apparently Innovate changed the protocol without informing any of their users. Cobb is working on it already... SS
Does Cobb not use Innovate's SDK? If they hacked their own stuff to chat directly with the LC-1 I could see there being a problem when they change something. edit: reason I'm asking is that Innovate claims their SDK is device independent and should still work regardless of changes in the actual device/protocol.
when did change happen?? How old is your LC-1? Is there any way you can change your firmware of LC-1?? (not familiar with all the SDK, java stuffs... )
SDK is basically a 'wrapper' around the functionality of the products. For instance, you'll ask an ActiveX control to give you the Lambda value rather than look in the 5th byte after sending a request like 0x04F1 to the serial port... it hides the protocol so that you don't have to worry when stuff under the hood changes.
I am using the very latest version of the LC-1...just bought it a week ago. I am not sure about the firmware thing. I am guessing that if that was an option Christian would have suggested it. I am actually pretty surprised at how helpful Christian has been, I am just a little let down. Sema is huge and I really don't blame them for trying to hit it hard. It is every part companies dream to make it big there. I am however dissaponted. But to be sure it is pretty cool of Christian to take time out of his day to call me as well as to email me. It may not be much, but it is kinda cool. As for them working on it, Christian said it will probably be sometime in November before they can really get on it unless it is a simple fix.
icic. I'm glad that I bought before this change happened. BTW, LC-1 and ST work together flawlessly. My only current problem is that my AP cord cable was been ripped off... so i haven't tuned/datalog for awhile. I feel like I added too much compensation for colder weather (used to have bad boost surge, so i was little conservative), so I'm making around 18-19psi compare to 20psi that I tuned during 90F IAT. Back to subject, Hopefully COBB will release advanced version of ST soon as well. Also, you can still tune up your idle & closed loop MAF table with stock o2 sensor. They are about 90% accurate during closed loop (or till around 12:1). In this way, you can still play with ST.
well let me know if you need to come up and use mine. I'd be happy to ride around with you and watch you tune.
sure. you don't have to be novel prize scientist to tune. As long as you take your time and consequence of each adjustment, you won't blow up your engine. Give me a call sometime next week. I shall have more time compare to this week.
Is that kinda like a Nobel Prize? :fawk: I really appreciate the offer. I am going to see what I can do for now with the narrow band and monitoring the AFR's after with the wideband. As a note on the customer service, Christian today offered to give me a full refund for the software if I wished. Cool offer as most places will not refund on software once it is opened. But I would probably still be stuck wth the LC-1 as it is opened and soldered in place, wires cut to size, etc. I also had an offer from one of the guys on NASIOC to trade me out my new one for an older one (new in box still) that he had at his shop. I have a friend that might have one in his shop that is compatible. He is going to check into it, but if nothing else when my new AFR gauge gets here I can still monitor it while I am driving to make sure I have not gone too far with the tuning.
You can try giving DIYAutoTune a call (they're local, near Lawrenceville); they are an Innovate dealer and might be able to help you out somehow.
Seems like there is some value that I have to set somewhere...Christian wrote today saying there is something that I have to do or manipulate in the LC-1 software and it should then work fine...too late and a couple too many beers to mess with it right this second, but it seems like it was a known issue that they just didn't think of.
Well tried to set these today and it was a no go. I can get the LC-1 to work with the logging software with a serial->USB but can't seem to get the LC-1programming software to work. I called innovate and they just said to try to get a laptop with a serial port but said that it was something on Cobbs software that is the issue and that the LC-1 is set up from the factory to work just fine (and it does with their software, displays afr correctly)...Christian at Cobb claiims that it is not their software, it is some value I have to change in the LC-1 software. Until I get my hands on a laptop with a serial port I am at a standstill. This could all be so easily prevented if they just made a seperate plug in for the lc-1 lambda cable..so it s not running on hacked lm-1 values.
