LED hatch lighting - now the dome light stays on?

This weekend after being inspired by this thread on scoobymods, and the identical thread on NASIOC, I decided to install LED lights in my hatch.

This was pretty straightforward thanks to the tutorial. I installed 2 in the upper trim piece and 2 in either D Pillar. The 2 top LEDs are Super Brightness White, while the ones on the side are a less intense and a blue. I had to use a resistor in each of the circuits as indicated in the tutorial. I actually wired 2 separate circuits. The LEDs on the side are in a parallel circuit separate from the top series circuit. I did this with the intention of adding a separate switch for the side LEDs, but did not hook this up yet.

    Pics in my journal here.

On Sunday I repeated this provess and also installed 2 lights in the top trim piece of the saabaru. Only this time without as good success. The lights come on when the switch is on, but do not turn off when the hatch is closed. If I turn the switch off and close the hatch the dome light remains on. I've tried removing the lighting from the circuit to see if the new lighting circuit had an adverse effect, but the dome light still stays on. During all of this the "open door light" on the dash never comes on.

Any ideas on what I could be missing? The fuses are good since the lights are on (plus I checked them anyway). Is there a relay or such that controls the dimming function of the dome light? Could the "door sensor" be slightly shorted out causing the lights to remain on, but the dash light to go off?

Well I seem to have fixed the problem. Pulled off the hatch panel, D pillar, and side panel...fiddled with a couple wires plugged/unplugged a couple things and now it works. Thanks for the help. lulz
