I got my new CarPC working fully, and was looking around at the forums for the front end system I am running, and I came across something that I have been looking for for the past 2 years, since I decided to install a CarPC. I am so excited. Can't wait until it arives.

Now, I can get rid of the full size keyboard I had kept in the car since day one. Since I now have the Front End that I can easily control Volume and Change Tracks with a touch on the Screen, I don't need the Media Controls my keyboard had.

Also, I think I decided on my next car mod today. This will be something unique that I don't think anyone on the site has.

And of course to go with the above, there is this plugin for the CarPC Front End.

Nice Jason! If I still had the subbie I would have been putting a carpc together, the miata just doesn't have enough room. Hopefully I will get out to a meet sometime to take a gander!

That's exactly the reason I want to do this now. They told me at GTE that I must have had a flat tire at some point that I drove on for too long. With stiff sidewalls and low profile tires, it is difficult to tell if you have a flat, and this would resolve that problem perfectly.

Plus, according to what I was reading, you can set a Maximum and Minimum values, and if the Pressure or Temperature moves outside of those parameters, the Front End will give a Voice Warning as well as a On Screen Warning Light. Pretty freaking cool if you ask me.

Oh yeah, the plugin is also customizable to be in English and Read Degrees F and PSI.

I may have a CarPC to sell in the coming weeks. Now that my new PC is working, I am going to play around with the old one and see if I can revive it. If the guys at Frys were correct, all it needed was a new Power Supply which I have now. Just need to take the time to put it all together and see if it works. There is plenty of room in the Miata, all you need is enough room for a medium size Amp case. I have mine under the Passenger seat.

The CarPC is running XP isnt? Interesting, are you running the Enginuity dashboard to display all relative measurements from the ECU as well?

Kinda makes me want one again :) I would be tempted to just mount a mac mini in there instead of building the pc, mounting it in the trunk, etc, etc. How far have the screen designs / quality progressed? I would want a higher res, better fitting screen if I did it again.
