losing clutch or just condensation?

  1. Lost Clutch. Need good clutch suggestions.

So every once in awhile the clutch seems to be slipping on my stock 02. it usually happens once right in the middle of the torque band, then I it wont do it again until I drive it again later on.

I would figure that a dying clutch would slip over and over when flooring it but this isn't happening at all. just one time the first time I floor it during a drive, then its fine after that.

Anyone know whats going on here?

Update: The clutch is definitely going away. I really dont plan in the future on making this car much more than 250whp with a vf39. Would an upgraded pressure plate be good enough while replacing the stock disc? Also, what other install opportunities would a clutch swap grant me? transmission mounts, etc...?

RS's do that when the clutch is about 5k miles from slipping all the time.

Its just a matter of time now...

My clutch feels like its slipping too for some reason. It's only in 4th and 5th gear though. If I give it more than about 50% throttle at around 3k rpms it feels like the rps rise faster than it should for 200-300 rpms then it will drop back down to about 3k and go up steadily.

  4. Exactly!!

Well, to answer my own question: The slipping is now in each gear and its repeatable on a consistent basis.

So moving right along... Anyone have any good clutch suggestions? Something for a bugeye that will remain under 300 whp. I've been itching for a vf39 and a tune, but thats not going to happen now because of this...

So would a new stock disc and an upgraded pressure plate do the trick?
