MAF Sensor Compatability?

I have a '97 Impreza wagon. The MAF sensor (according to the p100 check engine code) has pooped out. We've tried cleaning it, didn't do much. Think we need to replace it. Found three Imprezas ('95, '94, and '93) at three Pullaparts in the Atlanta area.

Question is, will the MAF sensors off any of these cars work on mine? If not, where the hell do I get a new MAF sensor?

    Thanks!

We installed the new MAF....and got nothing. Still getting the relay clicking and check engine light.

Anyone have any ideas of a good "next step" for trying to solve this?

    Is that a 2.2L or 1.8?

In my Chilton's Manual it says "Mass Airflow Sensor Circut malfunction" I personaly would look for vacuum leaks as a starting point , I know my EJ20R wouldn't run right with the PCV valve not in the intake manifold. It acted like a bad MAF. My next point would be severd wires but that is unlikly the problem.

Wanted to post an update on the status of Mr. Jiggles. WE FIXED THE PROBLEM!

Here is some background, since I didn't really go into detail in the OP.

The car had been driving very jerky-like for months. It would stall out when it idled too long (stop lights, stop signs, etc.). When I was driving on the highway, the RPMs would drop for no apparent reason. One second, I'd be in 5th, going at 3000rpm, the next, I'd still be in 5th, but coasting at 0rpm. Within a few seconds, my tach would jump back up to 3000rpm. Weird.

We replaced the MAF. Nothing. Then, we figured there HAD to be a problem with the fuel/air ratio the car was getting. This weekend Matt (SubiNoobi), Alex, and our friend Joe suggested looking at the spark plugs, thinking the car sounded like it was mis-firing. We replaced the spark plugs the same day we bought, so we never though to re-check them. We took off the spark plug wires and, lo and behold, a metal component from one of the wires was stuck on a corroded contact point on the spark plug. We cleaned the contact point, got new wires at AutoZone, and now the car runs perfectly.

In short, I saved $400.00 with the help of a few friends and $30.00 of parts at AutoZone! Thanks Alex, Joe, and Matt!

Alex, do you still have pictures of the corroded contact point?
