My 14.5 year old beagle died this morning at 2:30. The poor guy was real ill the day before Christmas Eve and we thought we would loose him then. The next day and Christmas day he was playing with the kids and having a good time but this morning he left us. I am glad for the kids sake that he made it past Christmas. It is obviously tough on any day but that would have been too much.
Bummer man, I am sure he had a great life. I hope if you get another dog you consider a rescue. Might be a good way to start the new year and surprise the kids Still sucks to loose a dog on any day!
Thanks guys. He was a good dog and lived a long life. A while back developed a tumor and the vet said he didn't have long. That was 4 years ago. The tumor had grown to about 1/3 of the Marley's size so when he went it really wasn't too much of a surprise. He just barely made it past Christmas day as he started having seizures at 12:04 am. We woke the kids up so they could say good bye and at 2:30 I was on my way to the 24 hour emergency vet to have him put down. He died on the way there. The last dog I had to put down I was there with him as they gave him the shot. That to me was much harder than having him die naturally.
I'm done with dogs. My wife has asthma and having a per makes it hard on her. My kids want another so I made a deal with them that when they have kids I'll buy them each as many dogs and cats as they want.
Sorry for the loss Mike. Marley was a great dog (from my interactions with him). Think of all the people from this site and the area that got to meet him because you were working on their car.
Sorry to hear man. I don't know how I'm gonna handle it when Turbo's time comes.....he's practically my kid....I spoil him to death.
I'm sorry to hear this, losing pets can be as bad as losing a family member if they've been with you for as long. My family had to put down a 22 year old cat a little while back so I know what its like, RIP.
