Is there any plan to meet at NOPI this weekend? Or maybe to drive there? I am going on Sunday around 11 am but wonder if you all are going as a club or group.

I was glad to find this group as I am looking for new 17 inch wheel ideas and it is hard to make the decision by looking at pictures on Scooby.com or wrx.com. Any suggestions are welcome.

    I have a 02 WRX.

    Thanks

Soory to hear you both can't make it.

My WRX is Rally Blue with Black Grillecraft grilles in front, Cobb catback, de-badged and no spoiler.

    Thanks

your choice of rims will depend on ur budget and taste. personally i'd go with gun metal / hyper black.

www.wheelsnext.com has a pretty good selection for decent prices... go to their website and click on 'tuner specials'... i got my rims from them... they also offer a good replacement warranty

Sorry I couldnt check this last night. I came down and spent the night at my house and the stupid internet wouldnt work.

NOPI was fun, lots of rice as usual. I got to drive an STi!! hehe except I stalled it out the second time because I have no actual experience driving a manual.

After the show me and my friends decided to come back to my house to chill but then we found out that everybody was hanging out at the Publix down 19/41 from the raceway. People were doing burnouts, drifting, donuts, etc all with the cops watching. However once we got there the cops started forcing everyone out so we moved onto another place. Cops made us leave, this repeated a couple times and then we had to wait on some more friends to come and then we lost all the action.

I only saw one other wagon today but saw more WRXs at booths than any other car. All of my friends were sick of WRXs but still praised me for being original and having a wagon. My goal is to have some exterior/ suspension stuff done so I have a kinda competitive WRX for next year at NOPI.

Thanks for the suggestion and nice shot of your WRX. I didn't know buying wheels would be such a conundrum--too many choices maybe. I'm settling on gunmetal I think and a simple 5, 6, or 7 spoke wheel like the Rota SDRs you've got.

Next stupid question if I may--I plan to go to 17 inch wheels but don't quite get the difference between 7 and 7.5 widths. Some wheels come on both, some in one not the other. I looked at NOPI but couldn't tell the widths apart. Based on your experience, is there any difference? Also, do I need to use 225 tires whether I go with 7 or 7.5?

NOPI was OK--actually I din't see that many WRX's but maybe my eyes were distracted. The parking lot action sounds like fun--something my teenage son and his friend would have enjoyed maybe even more than getting their pictures taken with the models at NOPI.

I did see a nice WRX on the way back--on 75 around Northside. Gold color--and very nice tailights. Nice and simple but I haven't seen them on any websites.

Thanks, as usual for your help and patience,

    was the WRX orange?

If it was the orange WRX it is a guy named Evil Imports, over on ClubWRX's girlfriends car. He used to have a badass green WRX with a whole bunch of stuff done to it. Hers is just painted Acura something-or-another orange.

i would recommend you go with 7.5 inch width and 225s.

    215/45R17 on a 17x7.

    225/45R17 on a 17x7.5.

    225/45R17 on a 17x8.

    Enjoy.

I have 225/45's on 17x7 and haven't had any issues... The only concern I have is that if I wan't put a big brake kit on some day they won't fit...

And just wanted to let you know, I REALLY wish I would've went with 18's. I think they look sweet on wrx's...wish I could trade mine in for the larger size...
