Know anyone that can unlock it? I can't get in touch with the previous owners. The reason I think it's locked is b/c I cannot connect, read, write to the ecu. I've read, read and read for the past 3+ weeks on ecuflash, romraider software. So I pretty much know the procedure on how to get it working. I've got an 05' STi, trying to run 1.3 tactrix cable, tried ecuflash 1.29, 1.3, 1.42 and updated the ecu definitions. I can log in romraider and check for codes in com7 in ecuExplorer.

post pic of a car and more details. Previous tuner might have locked the ECU after a tune. I the one of the vendors here did then i am sure they'll be willing to help you out.

The car was semi stock when i bought it. Came with an injen CAI and just a perrin 3 inch exhaust. Boost is still stock 14psi, OEM downpipe and cats. It's been running a bit rich for a while. Everything else is OEM WRB. I'm not sure if it's been to anyones shop around town.

You can't unlock an Ecutek'd ECU. If it's Ecutek'd then Doug at Topspeed should be able to tell you iirc. Mike can't as he doesn't have the Ecutek tuning license.

Also if it is Ecutek'd your ONLY solution is to get a new ECU.

Yup, I think the only two people that still deal with Ecutec are Scott Seigel and Doug. There is a CHANCE it can be overwritten. But it depends on the version of the software that is on there.

The old ones could be overwritten. ANY Ecutek that is locked can't. It's a bunch of BS.

News, I didn't want to hear but I'll at least see if Scott or Doug can undo this.

Not too many folks still using Ecutec. It is kind of a dying platform. Don't get me wrong, it works, it just does not have many advantages anymore over Cobb or open source. But I did hear rumors they were trying to play catch up and offering some cool new features.

  13. We will check it out for free just to see whats up for you.

Call Matt tomorrow and he will get you set up with a time to swing by. Scott doesn't tune cars anymore

Actually, I heard he still did it part time. He would have to confirm though.

LOL small scale. But that's hearsay.

  18. A part time tuner isn't a tuner...we all know how much dedication that takes to stay on the cutting edge.

Either way we will check it out whenever works for the OP

Well, I got off work early and decided to stop by Top Speed today. Very clean facility. Very proffessional. Thanks for helping, Matt and Doug!!! They figured out the Tactrix 1.3 cable I got was for just a Mitsubishi Evo 9 and not for an STi. Looks like I'll be buying a 2.0 cable today. As I did mention, if I didn't like the opensource map, I'll stop by and get a dyno tune from y'all. Thanks again for helping.
