I've read posts where mods included "modded injectors". I assume these are modified stockers, can anyone describe what has been done to them to give them the higher flow rate?
There is a cap on the end of the injector that can be massaged off of the tip...ok that just sounded bad...let me try again. You grind the cap off the end of the injector. If you imagine a hat, you would grind around the lowest part of the hat (closest to your ears) and the top just pops off. I have read mixed reviews about these. My impression is to go with d-werks as they are still pretty cheap at $217 after refund for your stockers. They also flow test each set.
actually the deatschwerks modded injectors (http://www.deatschwerks.com/) are supposed to be awesome... originally, the only offering was capless, like crash just explained... however they now offer them with replacement caps... thus, u can buy them with predetermined flow rates (http://www.deatschwerks.com/subaru.htm) ... if they are flow tested in huge batches and the closest flowing ones are grouped together and sent to the customer... i will be using these on my new setup... slowwrx is running these with his GT30R... according to scott, these are probably the best matched injectors in the market right now... enabling you to get the maximum possible timing
I have deatschwerks' 850cc version. They work just like stock ones. Smooth idle and solid flow up top.
no need to use caps there buddy, you dont need to get snippy. your original question makes no sense, you already have stock injectors, what is the question?
i believe the 2.5 liter wrx injectors are top feed whereas the STi injectors are side feed i dunno about the other 2.5 motors
^^ it's true, with USDM models. I'm using a set of 800cc modded blues with my 20G.. never had any issues, and they're relatively cheap compared to aftermarkets.
If you're worried about messing up your injectors modding them, I still have a stock set of STi injectors for sale.
