i dunno much about the 2.5rs... one of our new members, 'Master' is from chicago and wants to start work on his 2.5rs... any suggestions?
dont forget struts, sways, flywheel... ask him what his final plans are and how much cash he has and i can help more turbo kit will blow up the internals of the motor, its not made for it id go for cobb or twe parts
He can do the frankenstein method. STI 257 block and Avo turbokit. It's all really going to depend on how much money he's got to spend. And what he wants to do with it. If he's trying to take on a wrx/sti in a drag race it'd take a lot of money and work. If he's trying to get better performance he can stick to basic bolt ons. Headers/Intake/Exhaust/pulleys/better tires/sway bars/lowering springs and struts/ etc.
Suspension is magic on an RS... If you want to keep the stock geometry, I say go STi v5 struts with Prodrive P1 springs and a set of Whiteline sway bars. Bushings are also magic. Lots of work though.
Hey guys i finally figured this blog posting and nav thing out.....sorry about the delay in getting back to you guys....well dont have a lot of money...wifey is still going to school!! ....but i would like to have the crowl like the wrx has and a little stiffer suspension...its too soft..i was leaning from side to side while autocrossing....and someone mentioned a turbo kit....i thought they didnt make them for the 2.5rs...i went to a car boutique yesterday and they said that they dont make turbo kits for the 2.5rs ....laters
they do make turbo kits for the rs. they're around 3-4000. for a lil more 5-6000 you can probably get a wrx swap if you pieced it together cheaply. thats just for the power. thats not including the accompanying mods that you'd probably want to do like clutch/brakes (to be able to stop). Since you want a deep grumble you can go ahead and get a full catback exhaust. That'd maybe free up 1-2 ponies. Plus when you're ready to do some sort of kit or turbo or maybe even the N/A route and get a intake and header it's there. Suspension. I'd recommend a lowering spring. They're cheap. Provide great handling. And no maintence of a coilover. Just make sure you becareful with the size of your rims/tires. To go witht he springs get some new struts. Koni inserts are the best way to go. Second choice would be KYB agx's. And a rear sway bar would perfectly even out your car.
doing a wrx swap has alot of extra cost such as about$1800.00 to buy a wiring harness and get it spliced with your current on. It takes the guys who do it like 60hrs plus that is alot of install and you might have to get a company to do some of the swap. But it sounds like thats not first on your list. Im still on factory suspension so I fell your pain
