So the sunday photo get together was a roaring success. We had like 30 cars come out. I was really, really happy with how it turned out. Lots of people suggested we make this a monthly thing. So I'm opening this thread up for discussion on locations. As far as time I think sundays work for most people. First sunday of every month? I think we do this Matt (2.5RS) style and have some pre-planned locations that we won't get kicked out of for hanging out and taking pictures. We also should set up a rolling shot meet. I think that would be a ton of fun and make the photographers among us better at what we do. Locations on and around 400 seem to work for most people. Also, any shopping center that has a large store that recently went under is usually good on a sunday. WalMarts are good...I know they're usually cool about stuff like this. Any other ideas put 'em in here! This isn't just about pictures, either. It was a great way to get some of the club together for a monthly meet thats really about the cars. So lets make it happen again!
Sounds like a good idea, maybe next time around I won't pull an all nighter doing body work and miss out. Was looking forward to meeting some of the people from the forum, and picking Sparta's brain in preparation of doing the 2.5L swap on my wagon.
you could just roll this into the every other Tuesday meet. That way you could have good food too. Those are usually decent turnouts. The timing is pretty good as well they usually eat around 7:30. So if you met earlier around the food locations you could catch good light.
But thats on Tuesdays. Any earlier and people are probably working. I suggest another Sunday, and definitely a different location. Maybe near the lake? We could all eat earlier (like we did this time) or after. Or have a BBQ and do it all at the same time?
keep it simple... i liked the meet at the food court and then head out but not every location can be like that... i like the idea of rolling shots and also be cool to get some different group shots everytime like all sti's, wagons, color shots...
just thought of something else, i know there are a few people on here that stunt street bikes, im sure they know of some pretty big industrial loading areas.
industrial areas are great, but as soon as a passer by sees/hears a bunch of loud cars going around the parking lot the cops will show up thinking we're racing/drifting. Just don't think that will last too long
some buddies of mine found a industrial building and went during hours and found out who they needed to talk to and they were given permission to be there by the owner... with us being an established forum site that might work at a store or anything like that...
i def see what BC2003UGA is saying, i know in charlotte (where im from) we used to meet at places like this and rarely had issues with the police, when we did they just made sure we werent drifting, dragging, etc. it also helps we are established club/group (not gang) and if we have some cameras out there and say its for a magazine or something. hell if the police do come and they are cool the police cars could make a cool addition to some subie photos.
Circuit City in Kennesaw off 41 went out of business a month or so ago. Its in a shopping center with other stores too, but just a thought
