The previews don't say much about the film so when my wife suggested we go see it I was juts kind of along for the ride but I must say it is one of the best sci-fi fantasy flicks I have seen in a long time. The post apocalyptic world looks amazing and the soundtrack is great too. The story has lots of twists in it and absolutely no questions are left unanswered throughout the film with lots of flashbacks eluding to what really happened to the world. There is also a love story unfolding throughout the movie. If I had to compare it to other movies I would say its Vanilla Sky meets Star trek. I walked away loving this movie and feel it rekindled my love for Science Fiction.
FWIW, Tom Cruise has said this is the best work he's ever done in his career. I don't agree with his personal decisions in life, but that little fucking midget can be awesome on the big screen. We watched Jack Reacher yesterday he did an amazing job on that movie as well. I've been looking forward to this one, everybody has said they were very pleased with the sci-fi aspect - thanks for the review Dana
yeah, i wasn't going to see it strictly based on the fact Tom Cruise was in it. but i keep seeing good reviews, might have to make time this week
Saw it a couple of weeks ago when I was in England. Overall it was a really good movie. It was the first IMAX movie I have seen that was not a documentary so I think it got a few extra points for that alone. I do believe I have seen a variation of that ending in a movie before though. Oblivion's version was much better though.
Worried about the Cruise factor as well... I try to not let actors / musicians doucheyness effect the movies and music they are in, but he really does bother me. That being said, I will check this out. Along with World War Z, Pacific Rim, IM3 and Superman. It should be a good summer.
I was thinking this the whole way through the movie. Still a good movie in my book though, I'd recommend it.
I just got done watching this with my son. Thought it was a good sci-fi movie and think Cruise did a great job in the movie. We saw it for a $5 group on so it was well worth it for us.
Definitely better than I expected, though not the best movie out there. Worth the $10 ticket and seeing in the theater though for sure
