Ok i know when the weather is really cold outside my car will smoke. But, today i was driving, it's about 77 outside or something. Anyways, i'm on the way home from college, and whenever i stop at a stop light or something, thin clouds of smoke come out of my car. And it's not the smell of exhaust, it smells like something is burning. So i get home, open the hood and pull out the dipstick and my oil is full. So what could be causing the smoking? Am i just being paranoid? Because I know what my exhaust smells like and this was definately not exhaust, smelled like, burned potatoes or something -_-. oh, and i changed my oil to synthetic for the first time about 400 miles ago.
maybe your oil is too full? i know that i've filled my oil up too much b4 and it started coming out of cracks i didn't know i had in my car and getting on the hot parts of the engine. not one of my best moments but that was where the smoke and burning was coming from. if it's not that then i couldn't tell you
is it also possible that the synthetic oil is breaking down some of the deposits left behind by the old regular oil?
Check the AC drain hose by the downpipe from your engine bay. It was 100% clear when I installed it but it may have came off the plastic clip and burning on the downpipe.
not 100% sure. But the smoke is mostly coming out of my exhaust. but it comes out of my hood/hoodscoop some too but that may be because of the hole in my DP. After i get my O2 sensor in i think it should stop smoking. And on a side note, about how hot does exhaust gas get? Cause i was thinking about JBwelding my O2 sensor in. And on the website it says that it's resistant to 500F.
aww i dont think my rear o2 sensor is that important. And 110 bucks is like 1/5 of my future catback.
maybe your car is smoking because its HOT! (with those springs on now..) Thats like saying thats 1/1000th for my new Mercedes or something
