Well today I started the build on my first subaru project. I gave some prelim. stats in my NEW USER section. I started recieving new parts today.. but mainly just started tearing it all apart. Some of the stuff is really easy.. but some of it so far that i have seen is a pain. Anyone know of an easy way to get the fuel injector rails off. I know its only two bolts each side but trying to lift it to get the injectors out is kicking my arse. I got the tmic off for my new one. the intake off for my new one. the intercooler hoses off for my new ones. and most of the turbo unbolted. i just have to get the injectors off so i can start running all my gauges. then after all the motor stuff is on i am going to get it tuned before i install the coilovers. I was told that topspeeds dyno gives problems to really really lowered subaru wrxs. I got my JIC's all together and ready to go though. Its going to be a nice setup when its done and i am hoping for close to 300whp after tuned on the vf39. i may be dreaming but i hope not. I am not going for show quality but i do want the build done right the first time. Is it just me or does it always seem like you should of paid someone to put all your Shizznit on so you dont have to fool with it? Oh well.. before I start tomorrow i will load new pics to keep everyone updated.
Cool deal bro! Good luck with her and welcome to the family! When the mod bug bites...it does not let go!
Its not just two bolts on each side for the injectors. There is also one on each side under the TGV sensors toward the front of the car.
^^Mikey knows Without meth you are not likely to see 300 but if you are doing the vf39 and injectors you will get close high 280's maybe in the 290's. Goto TS their dyno reads the highest and the lowered car should not be a problem.
awesome awesome.. thanks guys.. i just got back from iraq and have been planning this build for a while. I just want a smooth powerband and a good pulling car.
Dyno numbers are relative. My car made 400whp at SOG and 350whp at Batlground with the same tune. I gave up chasing absolute numbers a while ago. As long as the car is fast enough for me, I'm happy.
welcome home and thanks for everything that you do! myself and another member on here are currently working on my motor rebuild and i noticed that you live in the savannah area. i am only aboujt 45 minutes up the road from you and would be glad to lend a hand in some wrench turning if you need it. i don't know alot but after this tear down and rebuild i am definetly learning! just holler if ya need the help. i will hopefully have mine back together by the end of the weekend.
welcome home. it is good to see another subaru owner from down here on the boards. if you need any help with your build let me know.
Same here, I'm back in statesboro. Don't have my subie any more but always willing to turn a wrench on one. As long as I'm not working that is.
