you know that you should probably run the stock bov. you'll lose performance with an aftermarket one.
Sound effects normally don't result in performance. Most aftermarket BOV's are there for large turbos pushing a lot of air, so much air that a stock recirc cannot manage it. This is not a good option for a stock to medium modded WRX. I would definitely suggest reading some more about what mods are good and asking others opinions after you have found what area you are interested in. There are a lot of stickies in the threads that can help you along the way. I started here: http://www.fastwrx.com/perguid.html. Are you interested in power, handling, some sort of racing, looks?...
thanks man im more of a power guy then i think obout the looks oposite with girls do" what can i do next i alredy have the full catback i had hear a lot about the ecu reflash but im not sure what does it do or how to do it
Dont reflash. For the same price as a reflash you can buy a Cobb AP and change your fuel maps as often as you want. A reflash you can only do it once, or you have to pay for it every time afterwards. Your next step is to replace the uppipe and get a dp. You need to maintain at least 1 cat if you are in GA, so remember that when you are looking for a dp. After you get your exhaust squared away, think about Cobb AP1 used on Nasioc. Thats a good place to start for power.
There is no installation. You just plug into the ECU and drop the map. I believe the AP is about $500 or so for the V1, and about $650 to $700 for V2.
I was able to get my Cobb AP V1 for 350 used on Nasioc. Like 420 said, its really simple. The easiest way to add power. You just have to make sure you have all of the supporting mods first. They are listed on cobbtuning.com for every stage that you can run.
hey right now i have 2000 budget to invest in performance i just dont want to get something bad or inapropiate
If you are running a 05 or earlier WRX, go with an uppipe and dp first. They don't have to be new. Exhaust parts don't break easily since they are made out of solid metal. You should be able to find a catted dp for around 300 or less and uppipe uncatted or stock gutted for less than 80. After that start searching for a used Cobb AP1 for your specific model WRX, this should be around 400 or less. Be patient on the forums. These things come up all the time used, you just have to watch it frequently. That will be fun to 285 crank hp, about 225 at the wheels.
Stick with the WRX turbo for now. Upgrading to the STi turbo from the WRX turbo and stage 2 isn't that much of an upgrade. There are better turbos out there. You need to first start worrying about the supporting mods for a Cobb Stage 2. Once you get those and are running Cobb, then a lot more opportunities open up, like running a different turbo. No, the 04 does not come withe HID proj. lights. Are you running a WRX or an STi?
stock, i believe u might spike about 14-15psi and hold about 12-13... my knowledge on this is quite outdated so someone please correct me if im wrong when i got mine tuned on the stock turbo, it would peak at 19psi and taper down to about 16psi at redline
Well that changes things a little bit. Don't get the uppipe, because you don't need it. Stick with the dp and cobb.
If you're looking for power, then here's what you do (for an '04 STi) 1) buy downpipe and catback system (for a Full Turboback setup) 2) pick up an AP (v1 or v2, doesn't matter, can even be used as long as it's unmarried correctly) 3) Pay a tuner to protune it (namely one of our vendors - Scott or Battlground) 4) Use anything left over for suspension (Sway bars, stiffening bushings, etc) -or- skip the protune part (#3) and drop an off the shelf map and spend the rest on suspension/tires.
Helix is probably the least expensive for a catted dp. Just stay away from the HKS since it sticks with a stock design. Look for pipes that have a large bellmouth, probably the best, or a divorced wastegate pipe.
