hey guys, i have a 05 civic lx (rear drum brakes). I ...umm... "hit the curb accidentally" the other night, it was my rear tire, passenger side. well the tire went flat, so I put on my spare and took the tire to QT where I put air in the tire and it popped right back into place and held air. So I put it back on the car, but then noticed a small vibration. :squint: I took the car to a tire place hoping they could just balance the wheel to fix it, but they told me I need a new wheel bearing. Does anyone know if I can do this bearing myself? I have tried to look up the part but I keep getting thigs like "Wheel Hub assembly" and I dont know if it's the right part. I know it's not a subie but I thought someone may have swapped out a (rear) wheel bearing on a civic before. dennis
I need to replace a left rear wheel bearing on my 05 WRX. Scheduled to get it done this weekend at SoG. You could do it yourself, but you would need a press. I don't know of anyone that has one, so taking the car to the dealership to get it done.
are you sure it needs bearing? if its making noises then yes...however, you'd most likely need a new wheel before wheel bearing.
Well good news. I went to honda and bought the whole wheel hub assebmly for 70 bucks. Then i put it on and the old bearing was definately the problem. I took a pic of the old bearing: Basically what happened is I e-braked it around a 90 degree left turn at about 30. My back tire clipped the curb which is what made the bearing break. Anyway its running like new!!!!
