Ok so I was replacing my turbo for the past 5 hours and am just running into some issues. The bad part is it is not even a better turbo, just another stocker. I had it on and all seemed ok, but it was leaking oil. I determined that the oil return line was not on well enough and have been unable to get everything back on. I could REALLY use a hand from someone that has swapped turbos before. If someone who has replaced turbos before could come over tomorrow or the next day I would GREATLY appreciate it. I can't offer much, but beer such. Shoot me a call at 678-232-8829 Mike
yea the lower hose was a bitch for me. its almost like the hose is about 1/2 too short. just keep trying man. wish i could come out to lend a hand.
I can get the hose on....it's just getting the clip on over the hose after it is on! The hose is sitting on the turbo and on the return pipe now...just can't for the freaking life of me get the little squeeze clip over it.
Not sure that I can get over to help you, but you want the longest needle-nose pliers you can get that have a 90 degree bend in them. 11" or 12" pliers will work for you. Go in for the attack from the bottom of your car.
tried a variety of things, but mainly needle nose. Then we went to a zip tie. Fiddled with that for a bit, tried getting up from the bottom with no luck. Donno, not sure if my hands are just too big or what the deal is, but it is getting frustrating. I just need my car back together. hopefully the long needle nose with the 90 will work.
They should help alot I recall doing some ghetto the last time I did mine, like I used a coat hanger to hold it in the right spot or smething.
For me it was easier to pop the hose off and install it on the return line. Then slide the turbo on the hose. It's a bitch that's for sure.
5 hours and Im still discussing why this unnamed camera company has made poor business decisions for the last 7 years with regard to their supply and demand forecasting... I feel your pain
use long angled needle nose pliers and let both clips fall down on the hardline that goes to the oilpan (they will stay put). position the hose in place on the bottom and then bring the clips up to their proper places one at a time. now the bottom clip is as it should be. when seating the turbo back down have a second pair of hands hold the top clip open and you fenagle the turbo back into place. everything else is just reversing the removal process. and make sure the oil feed line (hard line) is not overtightened.
if you have trouble pulling them back up use the circular bent end off the crank from your factory ladder jack(that thing has a million and one uses).
sorry about all the merged threads... i can loan you some long needle noses if you come by fellini's pizza on lavista road tonight just ask for joel. and don't forget that when you finish you'll need to top off the radiator and burp the hoses so you don't overheat next time you run the car!
glad you got it figured out oh, and the Tuesday night meet this coming Tuesday is at the LaVista fellinis, so be ready!
harbor freight tools to the rescue they have a pair of long needle nose pliers about 12" one is aslightly bend and one is 90 at the tip (1" ) that may help i heard chopsticks may work too (JK)
