Saturday would be awesome. Anyone willing to make 50 bucks or maybe a full photoshoot of their car? Its not a lot but Id like to offer it to anyone that can install my up-pipe on Saturday.
Lets have a meet this Saturday Maybe a shop can lend us a hand for a group rate I am willing to pay possibly more if thats whats needed. I just really would like some help.
Ill give Scott a call in the morning, but if its going to be 300 dollars (which I think I heard him say one time) thats a bit expensive for me for an install of an Upipe.
ha, i'm in the same boat, but i heard torqueing down the uppipe correctly is more critical than the DP(easier to leak maybe?) i hope someone has a torque wrench.
You can buy torque wrenches for not a ton of dough, or possibly rent one from AutoZone or Advance. And yes, the uppipe is more leak prone: more stress, higher temps, higher pressure.
well when you look at it, it calls for 4 hours to install @ $70+per hour = around what you said in price. heres a link to instructions. http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=194 and another more indepth one http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6649&highlight=uppipe+install
4 hours to install it at home in a garage, but at a shop that has done them before, it should be half that time. :wiggle:
You only need around ~$20 worth of tools to do the uppipe... socket tools and wrench set. I would like to see you do it your self... you can borrow any tools in my garage if you want.
I appreciate it man. Im not new to doing mods myself, just didnt want to be stuck under a car for 6 hours like he said above lol, but either way. I think I found a buddy that will help me on Saturday morning to do the job. He at least has the tools we need. So if anyone wants to lend a hand, let me know and Ill give you directions. Hell maybe we can do two at a time.
i will help if you need it but have only helped on 2 others. We ended up just jacking the engine up a bit and removing the passenger side exhaust crossover. I have a floor jack and time. Lemmy know if another set of hands would help.
i wanan come by and check it out.. i have mine in.. but i want to help you out... but im warrning you.. i wanted to kill my self many many times during the install
Would you guys mind driving over to the eastside of Atlanta? Conyers to be exact? Maybe a small mod meet? Ill buy the food, and drinks, etc.
I think i could do it with you man. I've got a ton of tools and just cleared out my garage... You got my #, hit me up...
Nobody pays attention to craig . I got my Uppipe installed at Mahdavi Motorsports for < $140. 2 years later and zero leaks. They even did the egt resistor for me. Craig
 That we may have some trouble with. I wouldn't know where to begin for an UP install :wiggle: . I just like to follow the best deals Craig
awww, well no hate intended Craig. Hell, we can find a picture book on how to install it. One of those high end picture filled manuals and some know how and we'll have an up pipe installed in no time. Really, the only problem i've encountered in this install is bad gaskets, from some crappy 3rd party, so get the right gaskets (from subaru) and be golden. I've only met one person with 3rd party gaskets who made a leak free up pipe install.......and that was in ohio and ohio is weird.... i'm just saying, yaaaanky
Damn seriously? I have 3rd party gaskets and they seem really nice. A similar gasket set was used for my turbo back install with no leaks. I wonder if I should wait till I get a set of Subaru gaskets... Damn...
I just talked to Mahdavi and they said they can install it for 70 dollars and one hour of labor. And this was confirmed to do it today for that price! I know where Im going!
Yeah, that's insanely cheap for an uppipe. Probably not worth even trying for most people if they do a high quality install for that price.
When I used them they did an awesome job. Yerrow can attest to them as well. I was going to go to them for my clutch install as well, as it was an amazing price, but I've decided I'd rather get it done at Subaru, because there's no ifs or buts on whether they know how to install it on my car or not. Back to Mahdavi... They were extremely pleasant. I dropped my car off at 9 am, expecting to get it back around 4 in the afternoon. I get home around 10, and less than an hour later they call me to let me know it's ready to be picked up! Craig
that's an INCREDIBLE price!!!! SOG wants $300+. let us know for sure how it all goes. for 70 bucks, they can do them all day long with folks on this site. i really hope it's not too good to be true. but then again, i never believe anything i hear. keep us posted, please!
that's still a killer deal!!!! ok, one more question if i may; is that including the gaskets? meaning, bring in a gutted UP and drive home happy?
I was taken care of! Ran in to a small problem, but in the end I spent around 100 bucks for total install. They worked on the car for a while, but I just got it back and its PERFECT! No leaks and car drives wonderfully. DO NOT HESISTATE TO TAKE YOUR CAR THERE.
Dang man!! I wanted to go up there with you!! where are they located, did they do the cell fix? did they take off the dp? I have a gutted up and I have brand new gaskets form sog ready to go!! and the price is grrrrreeeaaaattt! are they open on Saturday wait I'm not busy today what time they close. that last write up from scobymods is very informative just dont have all the tools. Thanks jt.
Give me a call man. 404-495-4388 Once again, I really appreciate everyones willingness to help! But I think we saved all our selves a lot of frustration and stuff by getting it done at a shop for this great price.
