well Mr. SS said he would do mine but im in a job pickle right now..

  5. Ill give Scott a call in the morning, but if its going to be 300 dollars (which I think I heard him say one time) thats a bit expensive for me for an install of an Upipe.

ha, i'm in the same boat, but i heard torqueing down the uppipe correctly is more critical than the DP(easier to leak maybe?) i hope someone has a torque wrench.

You can buy torque wrenches for not a ton of dough, or possibly rent one from AutoZone or Advance. And yes, the uppipe is more leak prone: more stress, higher temps, higher pressure.

Mahdavi Motorsports installed mine a few years back for just around $120.

Let us know when you find a shop that charges 2 hours for an UP install. :keke:

  13. You only need around ~$20 worth of tools to do the uppipe... socket tools and wrench set.

I would like to see you do it your self... you can borrow any tools in my garage if you want. :)

it took us over 6 hrs to get mine in.

  15. I appreciate it man. Im not new to doing mods myself, just didnt want to be stuck under a car for 6 hours like he said above lol, but either way. I think I found a buddy that will help me on Saturday morning to do the job. He at least has the tools we need. So if anyone wants to lend a hand, let me know and Ill give you directions. Hell maybe we can do two at a time.

i will help if you need it but have only helped on 2 others. We ended up just jacking the engine up a bit and removing the passenger side exhaust crossover. I have a floor jack and time. Lemmy know if another set of hands would help.

awww, well no hate intended Craig.

Hell, we can find a picture book on how to install it. One of those high end picture filled manuals and some know how and we'll have an up pipe installed in no time.

Really, the only problem i've encountered in this install is bad gaskets, from some crappy 3rd party, so get the right gaskets (from subaru) and be golden. I've only met one person with 3rd party gaskets who made a leak free up pipe install.......and that was in ohio

    and ohio is weird....
    i'm just saying, yaaaanky

    ill be there.

    what time?

  28. Damn seriously? I have 3rd party gaskets and they seem really nice. A similar gasket set was used for my turbo back install with no leaks. I wonder if I should wait till I get a set of Subaru gaskets... Damn...

  30. I just talked to Mahdavi and they said they can install it for 70 dollars and one hour of labor. And this was confirmed to do it today for that price! I know where Im going!

Please let us know how the install went and your feedback

Yeah, that's insanely cheap for an uppipe. Probably not worth even trying for most people if they do a high quality install for that price.

When I used them they did an awesome job. Yerrow can attest to them as well. I was going to go to them for my clutch install as well, as it was an amazing price, but I've decided I'd rather get it done at Subaru, because there's no ifs or buts on whether they know how to install it on my car or not.

Back to Mahdavi... They were extremely pleasant. I dropped my car off at 9 am, expecting to get it back around 4 in the afternoon. I get home around 10, and less than an hour later they call me to let me know it's ready to be picked up!

that's an INCREDIBLE price!!!! SOG wants $300+.
let us know for sure how it all goes. for 70 bucks, they can do them all day long with folks on this site. i really hope it's not too good to be true. but then again, i never believe anything i hear.
    keep us posted, please!

    It's $70 + 1 hour of Labor...

    Labor = ~$70-75

Price is going to be around $140

    that's still a killer deal!!!!
ok, one more question if i may; is that including the gaskets?
meaning, bring in a gutted UP and drive home happy?

  42. I was taken care of! Ran in to a small problem, but in the end I spent around 100 bucks for total install. They worked on the car for a while, but I just got it back and its PERFECT! No leaks and car drives wonderfully.

DO NOT HESISTATE TO TAKE YOUR CAR THERE.
