Hey guys. Doug @ topspeed informed me that my rough idle and hesitation is probably due to a faulty front o2 sensor. I picked one up at SOG but do not have any experience installing it. I was told by a gentleman at SOG that there is a tool with a slit for the wire so that you can easily get it out with out having to use a hand wrench and that moose or some one else might have one. If anyone has had experience installing one and/or has the tool and is willing to help, i'll buy you a six pack for your troubles. you can hit me up on aim if my internet stays on: mrcoffeetlv or drop me a line on my cell seven four zero - eight one five - nine zero five four Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!
There was a warranty fix going around on WRX's for a while with an O2 sensor out of spec. have you looked into that for your LGT? Might be a similar issue.
actually the service manager and scott at SOG both said that without a CEL it would be impossible to cover under warranty and even that would be hard since the car was modifyed. I actually got very disrespectfull service from the service manager just trying to ask if it would be covered under warranty (bald guy in the front next to service area). Scott was nice enough to come out and make sure the O2 sensor replacement was what i needed and I thank him for that. I had already had a horrible day and trying to get this part with out being screamed at wasn't easy.
They're very easy to do on a WRX... you can get away with a wrench, but using an O2 socket makes life easier (I have one). You pop a plastic access panel inside the pass side wheel well, pop the socket on and bust it loose. Put new one in. I wouldn't think the Legacy is much different.
Sure... probably have to happen after thanksgiving, maybe Fri or Sat unless my wife has some plans I'm not aware of.
Autozone or Advance Auto will "lend" these O2 sensor sockets. Basically they hold a $$charge on your card until you return it.
hrm, i might try that actually. What socket size would I need, or is it something universal? If i get one before friday i'll let you know moose.
they are standard sizes, it is really easy to install. The bald guy is Neil. He can be gruff but well meaning. He and I went to the same HS in NYC so I understand him. good luck
I got the tool at autozone yesterday but i still don't know exactly where it is. If you want to drop me a line whenever you are free on friday that would be great. Cell # is in the first post. Happy thanksgiving btw.
I'm available whenever in the afternoon... email me at christer.medin@gmail.com or check your PM for my #...
Hey man, thanks so much for your help with the O2 sensor. We'll have to have tea or coffee or something when i get back to atlanta in a few weeks. I arrived back in ohio for school today and about 15 miles from the campus the car started bucking rather violently. Aparently something is still not right. There is a ticking noise that is only there when the driveline is engagued so come monday i'll have to call topspeed and go to subaru up here. At least now the car is reporting Air/fuel values!
Ticking noises and bucking, oh my! Get some logs with DeltaDash and see if you can spot anything... I hope you didn't burn another o2 sensor, but if it's still reporting reasonable values it's a good sign.
another unhappy SOG customer who got saved by scott last minute... I still have o2 socket that i lent like a half year ago from autozone. thanx for reminding me to get my $15 back. on WRX, i cut out some part of heat shield. I do not have to remove whole heat shield when i take out the o2 sensor now on. This saves easy 10-20 min job whenever u work on pre-turbo exhaust work.
Yea it's reporting real values for A/F again but i can't tell where the bucking is coming from. I'm going logging in a few so we'll see what shows up.
Might want to check and make sure the o2 sensor is still in there tight... it should be but maybe something has caused it to back out, which would explain the ticking. Usually ticking is some sort of exhaust leak...
Grrrr now the car is bucking when i get on or get off the accelerator at all. Does anyone with delta dash software know how to read the VVT solonoids? I can't seem to find out how and I have heard of others with this problem having to replace them.
