The girlfriend and I are participating in a scavenger hunt on Saturday for a $20,000 diamond ring. They've provided a couple hints which we 're looking for help to figure out. The hunt starts out at Piedmont Park just so you know. Here is the first riddle: "how can MIX equal 1009?" Now we know MIX is the roman numeral for 1009. I'm assuming it's hinting at a Greek restaurant or store possibly? How far off am I and do you know of any? Next one is a code instead of a riddle. "Four is one. One is one. Eleven is three. Seventy-four is four." If you can help us win, we will buy you dinner and drinks one night. Thanks, Steve
trying different combos of the code... i cant tell if it means One and is "one of them" or literally the #1. doesnt seem like there is enough info to be a telephone #, but i could be wrong
might not be a roman numeral reference at all since... MIX is a hypothetical computer used in Donald Knuth's monograph, The Art of Computer Programming. MIX's model number is 1009, which was derived by combining the model numbers and names of several contemporaneous, commercial machines deemed significant by the author. just sayin
"Four is one. One is one. Eleven is three. Seventy-four is four." Syllables. Not sure how that helps, but it's true.
In regards to the first riddle, I was originally thinking it had to do something with Greek. After typing in Google "Greek Atlanta, GA," we found the the zip code 30326-1009. Maybe there is a relationship going on?
That's just one hint. I've only received two. A couple co-workers are trying to figure out the second one.
