ok so i was putting a grounding kit in and broke something...it's a little plastic piece that hooks up to my CAI and it's attached to a hose...now it's raining too...... can anyone help me....?....here's a pic on the area...
Is it just like a mount or is it something that actually has a function? I cant really tell from the pic.
do you have an aftermarket ECBC soleniod, if so u can just plug it, i have the piece on my car that i do not need, but my car is at SOG. u may have to rig it until u can get ur hands on one. that line runs to the factory soleniod mounted behind ur CAI
well this isn't the actual pic...just one i found on internet.....but what it is, i guess is some sensor that hook to my intake...not the mass air...i don't know...this install has gone bad....i bought a new battery too....a yellow top optima and the positive terminal doesn't reach it....damn
yeah i'm screwed....i'm pretty sure i have to replace the whole rubber tube the goes from my intake to the throttle body..just because i broke off some little plastic piece....i guess i'll just go up to SOG on Monday...and hopefully i woun't have to buy a whole new intake.....
hey i'm gonna try to make it to the auto-x event and maybe someone might have an idea there?.....but i probably won't be there till 4...is it still at the fairgrounds?
yes it is... but jason and i r running in the morning so we'll be gone by 1pm or so... also if it rains, i might not go
ok so my car is currently at SOG....they haven't told me a final total but said to be prepared to spend around $700....this blows :wtc:
i forget the name of the part..it has some weird ass name....but it's high temp plastic and it connect the CAI to throttle body..aparently it's all one piece so it all has to be replaced....i'm still kinda in denial...
ok.....SOG rocks.....so they're going to put the high performance Perrin replacement in there which is WAY less labor....all for $600....and this one isn't plastic!!!....so lesson learned...watch where ya wrench...i need a beer!!!...
glad to hear you're at least getting an upgrade out of it for less... that's still an expensive "oops" though. i'm going to be messing around in that area soon myself, do you remember what you did that caused the break?
yeah where i went wrong was i manhandled the ground bolt on the exhaust manifold, and when it broke free....my hand slipped and broke this little plastic 90 degree connector that attaches to a vaccuum line from the base of my intake...ok this my help here's a photo of it on an sti....
^^^^you know not sure...they gave me some crazy name for it^^^flux capacitor..something like that.....
yes sir that's it.......i guess that's what i'll have now, before the stock one had some plastic ports...one connected to a vaccum line of some sort and i broke that little port and now i have to replace the whole thing...but i opted for the Perrin upgrade like shown in the pic because it was actually cheaper with labor than putting a new stock one in....and doesn't have the plastic connectors!!!!....thanks for the help moose, i'm just not as knowledgable as many people are on the site...
Did you get your car back yet. I have heard that the Turbo Inlet pipe does wonders for the sound of the turbo. I'm curious what you think about it.
I'll be picking it up tomorrow morning...i was wondering if i was going to notice a difference.....I'll let you guys know!!
wow the tube is like 200, guess labor is 400, im in the wrong business. tell u what if u buy the perrin tube i will swap with u and install both
I know you need to pull the intake to replace the stock piece, but some of the aftermarket ones will slide in there without doing it.. not sure about the Perrin. Yeah, $400 is a LOT of labor.
yeah they said that it was actually less labor to put in the perrin part verses the stock part and eventhough the perrin part was more expensive i would make out better overall going with the perrin upgrade....I'm satisified with the whole situation, i just had to use the $ i was saving for Ecutek for this screw-up...it could be worse..
genya has a perrin inlet pipe and it took him over night. its a lil larger in certian areas than others like the gp moto. its a pita if you try to squeeze it through the hole provided. you have to get it just right to get it to drop to the right place. the only other way is to take off the intake manafold and thats not hard but getting the manafold back on is a pain. still i would try the install my self before payin 400 extra bucks.
yeah i think they spec'd the install @ 4.3 hours....if i was purposefully upgrading i might try to do it myself or possibly with someone on here but....that wasn't the case and provided my options...i really just wanted it fixed so i could use my car again...and too busy to be picky....
ok so......the part was supposed to be in yesterday @ noon....as of this morning it won't be in till wed-sometime?...so now i'm out my suby for three days....so far..i think i'm going to need to get a loaner or something tomorrow to go to work!!... :gaysex:
I was talking with Scott about this today, I'm really sorry to hear about this...most unfortunate...reminds me alot of the expensive lesson I learned with top hats, heh.
