I'm new to the site and need help finding what my son calls a "Tuner Garage" I have a 2002 WRX with a persistent Check Engine light problem. I have to get it fixed in August to pass inspection and renew tags. The dealership has just charged me for new sparkplugs for the second time in a year and the light's right back on. They charged me nearly $500 to diagnose the codes as a misfire and change the plugs; now I'm being told they have to run an engine compression check-why didn't they do this when they changed the plugs and had access? I know they take advantage of women but this is crazy.
Ok go to autozone have them pull the code. What is it? What kinda of gas are you putting in the car? I not saying a woman wouldnt know this but from what ive seen the and subarus from 99-06 do not like the cheep gas 91 and 93 if you run the cheep stuff for long periods of time could cause some things. BUt you need to get the codes pulled. Autozone wont charge you to do it eiter. Once you find out the codes come back and post up the results an di think we can help more from there
yes... do that... we have a list of codes here: http://www.wrxatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7859
What year is your WRX? I think engine misfire codes are pretty generic after talking to mckenzietj ( onw of the subie/owners and mechanics on the board) . You may want to private message him about that.
You could also find someone in your area to help you pull the CEL, or you could go to autozone and have them pull it. Once you have the CEL code you can post it up and we'll help you diagnose the issue.
also check out Lethal Injection Tuning. If you are more comfortable with a dealer go to SOG, what dealer did you go to prior?
turbo help I'm a new guy to all of it but I just got my hands on a vf39 turbo but before I but it on my 03 wrx Impreza 2.0 I know I need 550cc , have sti up and down pip but I would like to upgrade the turbo's internals what company will have what I'm looking for sorry no one is coverd this in none of the forums thank you:bowdown:
that engine light could be serious the only reason i know this is because i had the same problem. I kept bringing the car back for plugs and coil packs and so on and then finally they did a compression check and found that the #4 cylinder was leaked down about 80% which was not cool so all in all they had to replace my short block. this took a while but I got subaru to pay for it, I said i would claim lemon law and it worked!
