Just recently got my cobb ap...which was definitely worth the money! Now i have dp, uppipe, catback exhaust, sway bars and the cobb ap. ...Im just lookin on some good ideas for some next mods that arent to heavy on the wallet but has a noticable impact on the car. ...Just lookin to keep goin with the mods! appreciate any ideas guys!
Ive been looking at suspension but i cant seem to find any for a good (low) price. Its pretty expensive though
I didn't see what model / year you have. A cheap suspension mod is STI takeoff springs. I have done that on my 02 wagon with stock struts. A noticeable improvement. When the struts go I am planning to do koni inserts.
If you're still looking for power mods, drop-in filter (K&N or Green) and a silicone y-pipe and a protune complete the "stage 3." Siegel
take out your windshield. BIG difference in airflow inside the car, and its an inexpensive mod. lol j/k I'd do the k&n drop in and a protune. Do Not buy an intake! just isn't worth it IMO
I have a 04 WRX. Yea i really do need some other type of suspension other than sway bars. i was thinkin of the tein coilovers buy damn their expensive! would just the lowering springs be a pretty noticable mod as far as i mean handling and all? Ah yes im either thinking of some suspension mods...or a protune since i got the cobb ap...im trying to decide lol
Are you ever gonna track the car regularly? If not I wouldn't go coilovers and do struts and springs. Tokico Dspecs or Koni inserts plus RCE springs is a great daily driver combo.
I havent done anything with the brakes. im not all to familiar with good kinds of brakes honestly, i figured i dont need an upgrade on brakes yet. But no its going to a regular track car...its my daily driver but eventually i will be going to the track every now and then. And also if i was to get a ypipe would it just benifit my to get the whole radiator hose kit?
Radiator hose kit does nothing but make the engine bay purty. The y pipe is the piping under the TMIC in case you didn't know.
Yea i know where it is...its just some places i looked, it comes in a kit. so i was just wondering about that. Ive never really heard of a y pipe having all that much of an effect though...
I see...Yea ive been reading up on some things about it and wat mods to get. One thing i always keep meaning to get is K&N drop in filter too. ...But also am looking forward to a protune! ..ahh so many choices
About the same but a little hard to locate. They are oil-less which is good for the MAF. I've always used Green filter until the last one.....had to get a new filter before my next tune and didn't have time to wait for it to ship so I went to AutoZone and bought a K&N.
I just read about the Green filter and about the K&N filters and the oil problem to the MAF. I knew the K&N filters were oiled up but i didnt think it would effect anything really...i might have to go towards the green it seems like...
It's your choice. K&N is good just let it air out in the sun for a day before installing. Brand new they have waaaaay too much oil on them.
Yea just been reading a lot about the filters. It seems like Green is the way to go...im thinking of getting drop in filter the y pipe and finally get a protune
Coolrex is talking about whp... Stock WRX's make 160-170 whp and wtq on our dyno. Stage "3" (filter, y-pipe, UP, DP, muffler) usually make 245-260 wft-lbs and 235-250whp. Siegel
Did you guys ever dyno a car with the setup that i just sent you in PM? and what kind of results did you get?
I see...yea whp is understandable. Im looking forward to it... Do you guys happen know a good website with good prices on mods....like im looking around for the drop in filters and the y pipe
Invidia 4" bellmouth to 3" DP Sti UP Invidia 3" Catback Turbo XS FMIC Pinks VF39 Walbro 255 Fuel Pump CAI Got all the parts, just waiting for quote on pricing from TS.
Dont forget, if you buy parts from them, they give you discount on installment. Correct me if im wrong.
Lol installs for a drop in filter and y pipe? i can handle those, but for future mods thats definitely going to be helpful...Im gonna give Topspeed a call and see about those parts and schedule appt for a protune. lol...
Y pipe is good, silicon turbo inlet is fairly inexpensive. Basically making the intake side of the turbo flow better. I have not seen any proven results, but it seems the after maf tube would be a good idea if you decide to do the silicon turbo inlet pipe. It's all about how the whole system works together. Make the exhaust flow well and you need to do the same for the intake side of the car. Think of it like a hose. If you have 2 kinks in the hose (intake and exhaust) and you remove 1 kink, it still is not going to flow very well. But if you remove both kinks, water comes pouring out. Oversimplified, but you get the idea
VF-39 and FMIC should make near 290whp and 290wft-lbs. On a motor with 123,000 miles I think you should have short-block money in reserve... Siegel
