Hey everyone, You will be seeing a lot of me on this forum so i hope you get used to it.lol. So my WRX has a sti exhaust, intake and a POS ebay BOV on on it. These parts were on the car when I got it from the dealership so I don't know if it has a tune or not, I am thinking no that it does not. I have been doing some research and I see that there are a few main places to get a tune done which are Topspeed, battleground and forged performance. I have heard good things about forged performance which makes me want to go there. But does anyone here have any experience with them? Good or bad. Thanks!
just do your research and call them all, tell them what you have, what you're looking for and ask what they recommend. All three are good shops
My girl got her WRX tuned at battleground but it was like 5 years ago and I'm not sure who did the tune.
We would be happy to help you out feel free to give me a call or stop by anytime to check out our facility. We have a couple of pretty cool subie builds going on right now and the arguably one of the best tuners in the country. Matt 678-297-7770 TopSpeed Inc
Dan is in Japan right now IIRC. I stress that you support the vendors who help support this community. Fortunately, that's all of the big Subaru tuners currently: TopSpeed, Forged Performance and KillShot. Here in Atlanta, we are quite lucky to be surrounded by such high quality work. Go us! Each speed shop has their strengths and weaknesses. I suggest you call each and tell them what you are interested in doing with your car and go from there.
I did an online tune through XP Tuning and went stage 1 for my STi. Was pretty good and worked out some of the hickups but I know it will need to be tuned on a dyno one of these days when I decide to upgrade a few more major parts. Either of those three I've been hearing good news about. It's just best to go and talk to each of the shops and get a feeler for what you feel most comfortable with.
We actually don't have the new website up. It was supposed to have been done, but sadly it is still in progress. Feel free to give me a call if you have any questions. For what it is worth I don't think you will go wrong no matter which shop you choose.
All of the shops are capable. Call them all and make your own decision. If it was me the shop with the biggest track record of proven results is Topspeed. They have also been around before ALL the other shops for the Subaru platform so they know their way around them. Personally any car I get tuned will be done by Topspeed.....they can tune anything and anyone pretty much. Hard to beat experience and PROVEN results Good luck.
Just to keep the record straight, I believe that Doug and I have been around Subaru's equally long... Siegel
Just referring to the comment about TopSpeed being around before all the other shops... Not a big deal, but just trying to keep it straight. Siegel
It took three reads through this thread to find this comment. I clearly missed it on my first go Out of curiosity, what year did you start at SOGPD at SOG? It had to have been 2005ish.
Well, ultimately nothing. My comment was a comment towards Siegel's comment which was a comment towards your comment which commented on how long TS has been in business. But the reality is I've already answered the OPs question.
just go with who you are comfortable with... you can talk to people all day and hear good and bad stories from every place... personally mike and andy at killshot have my vote as they have proven to go above and beyond in the customer satisfaction department!
Actually, it end of 2003 when I "started" working with them and January 2004 when I was full time there. Siegel
Hey Dheim96, I've been to both Forged and TopSpeed. I have a '05 STi with the cobb v1 stage 2 tune. When I arranged a tune at TopSpeed, they said my accessport had an error, bug, default, or whatever. They suggested to buy a cobb V2 but i couldn't afford that and the tune, so i said fuck it. However, TopSpeed didnt charge me for the trouble and time. Took my car to Forged, and Scott had no issues with my v1, and he successfully tuned it. I prefer Forged because of that and also they're closer to my home. Forged has a pricey flat fee for a tune but I was satisfied. TopSpeed, I believe tunes by the hour, and may be cheaper for the time, but the above statement is why i suggest Forged.
I contacted Forged earlier today to get an idea what it would cost to tune my car using an AP and they informed me that Scott accepted an engineering job elsewhere and only doing work part time now. Still waiting for a response from Mike at Killshot as well.
I called you on Sunday and left a message but never heard back. Feel free to call the number in my signature any time that is best for you.
nor do i. hell, i don't even live in atlanta anymore. as an active member of wrxatlanta, it seems their business is everyones business
Sharif is MORE than capable of supporting you at Forged. If you were to have any obscure or unusual issues, I am still technically an employee of Forged and I talk to Sharif almost daily. We can certainly make your car perfect at Forged. Siegel
