New Belgium's support for cycling keeps growing in Atlanta. After last year's Atlanta launch of their Clips of Faith Beer and Film Festival, New Belgium invited us to be part of Atlanta's first Tour de Fat, the biggest, most enjoyable traveling bike festival we know of. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition, as well as Sopo Bicycle Coop and IMBA-SORBA. The day will kick off in Historic Fourth Ward Park with a zany, costumed bike parade (10 am - get there at 9 am to register), followed by a bike & beer festival. Stick around for performances by Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds, Yo-Yo People, Sean Hayes, and Sssnakenstein, circus- and vaudeville-type acts, even bicycle dance troupes. The climax of the tour is the bike trade, when a local transfers the keys and title of his/her car to New Belgium, and gets a shiny new new commuter bike - of their choosing - in exchange! http://www.atlantabike.org/tourdefat ------------------- Most of us on here like beer and a smaller percentage are stoked on bicycles in addition to turbocharged cages. This is going to be a really fun event showing off the new Old Fourth Ward Park (and beautiful neighborhood) and benefiting the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition, IMBA-SORBA, and the Sopo Bicycle Cooperative. Fun for all ages! Come on out!
