Well SS is tuning my car this week, and its an absolute beast. Anyway, ive gone way off the scale of the factory boost gauge at 25+psi. So I just ordered an Autometer Sport Comp boost gauge that reads to 30 psi and a carbon fiber gauge cup mount!
Yeah, im stuck here in houston at Benz school until friday afternoon. Scott keeps calling me and telling me how stupid fast my car is. It driving me crazy!! But about the gauge holder, the CF should look nice with my massice CF scoop!!
Yeah, im so excited about it! SS is predicting mid to low 11s, approx 400whp from about 3k and up, and somewhere in the 450-500lbft range. He says its definitely the fastest 1/4 mile car he has ever tuned!! Then he proceeded to tell me not to kill myself in it! lol So who else is running this gauge?? I would imagine it is a pretty good gauge, but it is rather cheap in price.
Excellent, i wanted a good quality guage but i couldnt see spending $150+ for a boost guage. Though the blacklight Blitz guages did look pretty sick!
Dude with 400+ hp you definately have mid to low 11's Mind telling your setup? I see 2.5L but is that a 2.5 hybrid with WRX heads or what? Oh yeah SS's butt dyno is pretty darn accurate :rofl:
Just talked to SS. It's a VF22 and he said it's not enough turbo. Hmmm makes me wonder if I need to upgrade mine from a tdo5h 18g to a td06 20g when I go 2.5L. You have to remember the 2.5L with WRX heads makes the compression 8.8:1 if you use the STi head gasket. Stock STi is 8.2:1. Can we say better spool? Bwahhhahahahaha.
Back on subject. Johnnyboy can you still list your mods and everything you got for your 2.5L swap like what HG you used and whatnot? LOL suspension, then 6 speed, then POWA!
Ok guys here's the setup... STi shortblock w/WRX heads Cometic head gaskets (0.040" thickness) ARP studs vf22 turbo PE800cc injectors smc meth injection perrin ebcs aps cold air intake perrin inlet hose and charge hose helix downpipe wrapped turboXS uppipe wrapped blitz nurspec touring catback ebay big TMIC perrin y-pipe The vf22 isnt really enough turbo. But if you guys recall, i was running this same setup (minus the injectors and ebcs) on the factory TD04 turbo. With that setup i had no top end, but it made 17psi at like 2200rpm. It was an absolute torque monster. With the vf22, its gonna have even more insane low end power, as well as mid and high rpm power. Though i would definitely benefit on top end from a 20g, the vf22 is going to be stupid fast on the street making loads of power where i use it the most.
Nice! I want to try my current turbo to see what it can do and if I don't like it I'll go td06 20g. However are you sure your car is hitting 400 hp and 450+ tq on the VF22? VF22 flows around 380 cfm whereas the 18g is 590.
According to SS's butt dyno, lol. Id like to dyno it soon to know for sure. I would definitely give the 18g a try before you go bigger!

Yeah, with the carbon lip and scoop. I actually just talked to him and he has a boost leak, so no tuning until next week probably. But yeah, his paint job is sooooo beautiful!!
Nah, he has a built 2.0l. Yeah i want to see it as well!! Ill try to get it dyno'd asap and let yall know. Im sure the low end power will be insane!!
I am trying to figure out who Arnold is! Did he wreck his car and built his 2.0L with forged internals? The guy I am thinking of is a black guy who rode with us when I got the meth inj tuned in. Very cool and upstanding guy!
