The motor is done. I'm picking it up this week, all the parts are on the way. The new build will begin shortly. I finally added to my gallery its got all the basic info in it about the setup but Ill tell everyone what it is briefly. Built 2.5 with JDM V.8 heads, DPR cams, Magnus intake manifold. A custom turbo that Dan wont even tell me the specs on. The turbo will be low mounted in the fog light hole on the passenger side. It will feed directly into the inter-cooler. Piping will come out of the other side of the inter-cooler and feed into a flipped Magnus intake manifold. I'm shooting for 600hp on pump gas with methanol. 750-800hp with race-gas methanol and nitrous. Currently shooting for very low 10s on pump gas 9s on race gas. Questions and Comments are welcome Matt
I would like to say the end of the month but I really just dont know. When it gets to this level things tend to get complicated really fast. LOL
Sounds great. Are the ver8 heads the big port heads? Planning on shutting up any of the shit-talking domestics on IA?
The version 8 heads are the big port heads, they have also had a nice hand port job put on them as well. As far as shutting up the domestics, Ill see what I can do, my mustang is almost done as well, I'm taking all the motor parts to the machine shop for final assembly on friday. Then it all goes back in the car for some tuning. The Mustang will be doing the talking on the street, its going to be very nasty. Ill post pics of the motor and port work as soon as I pick it up. Matt
Lol, Nope this is my brother Jeremys daily driver. It has A\C, Power Steering, and a DVD player. I dont think anyone has made a 9 second pass in DD yet. Thats what we are shooting for 9 seconds and you can still drive it to the store.
im happy that someone i know is working on a project of this magnitude... if this works, u guys will be real famous :bigthumb: goodluck
i believe a crawford built car ran a 9 second quarter and was driven too and from the track a couple of hundred miles.
You may be right I think the guys in Puerto Rico did it, but I dont think anyone on the mainland has.
Yeah Big Valley's car is 100% street legal. They drove the car to the Evo/Subie shootout from Vermont.
Rather than getting a magnus intake manifold you should get a stock one, bend it, drill 3 or 4 holes in it, piss on the cash you would have spent and then light it on fire, and then drop a brick on your foot. In the end you will end up the same but you will save on shipping . Seriously though, you should chat with Joel (AUTOwrXER) or Kevin at Knowledge about the problems he had. Magnus may be solving them but it took him a good month to get everything sorted out.... It was far from a bolt on product. Otherwise, you seem to be building a well thought out monster.
I dunno with Subie's but all of Magnus' manifold for the Evo and DSM's were the ish. All the ones I installed were perfect. Hope you don't have that problem with them. OT but Javid I saw you at the Dragon. Sweet car!
Ive had one that I had problems with already, they fixed the problem. They sent me a new manifold built to my specs, with the runner length and plenum volume I wanted. They build good stuff, they just had some issues with the guy that was welding them. Its a very hard manifold to build because of the engine layout. About the whole Joel\Kevin(knowledge performance) thing Ill keep my comments to myself because I have alot of them and none of them are good. Edit, Joel is a nice guy the comments arent about him.
What? Drama between atlanta shops? Well, I'm glad you have already gone through a IM install and resolved the problems, just wanted to give you a heads up. I am curious about the plans for fuel, especially out back (I assume 1000 ccs up front). Going to stuff two 255 pumps in the stocker or run a cell with a big single?
Nah this isnt even shop drama its personal. Yeah the intake manifold install really isnt as bad as everyone makes it out to be. We have two setups planned for fuel, I'm not sure which one we are going to use. Both will use 1000cc injectors as the primary gasoline injector. One setup calls for a seperate Methanol fuel system with 750cc Methanol injectors as the secondary injector. The other calls for an additional set of 750cc gas injectors and a single methanol nozzle. I'm a little concerned about methanol distrubtion with the single nozzle. We have also considered running the nitrous kit with the methanol as the fuel, I'm just not sure I want to be the one to R&D that. I know it can be done but as sensative as Subarus are to AFRs I'm afraid that I wll burn a motor up before I figure it out. Plans for the back half of the fuel system originally called for twin Walboros. I think thats what we are sticking with if we dont it will be a sumped stock tank. I dont want to put a fuel cell in the car. The most likely fuel setup because its easy and proven will be the 1000cc Primary injectors 750cc secondary injectors and a single methanol nozzle. With the direct port nitrous setup in two stages. Twin walboros in the stock tank. The bottom line is nothing with this car can get to crazy its still Jeremys daily driver. Jeremy has a Mustang coupe for a drag car and a 240sx for a road race car, he doesnt need another race car. A\C rocks the house
You shouldn't have an issue with the single Methanol nozzle if it's before the TB. What you think all of us Meth inj guys are using? Working quite well for all of us.
I think it will be fine, I would rather have it setup for each cylinder but I'm not sure I want to spend the money.
Jeremys car is a 88 coupe with a t70 single turbo and mine is a 2000 GT with a 427 nitrous motor(changed plans). Ill post pics of the progress on both of those cars as soon as I get a chance. Matt
The new motor arrived today, Ill post up pics of the install when we start. The port work looks amazing. I cant wait to get it running. Matt
Car gets dropped off on Monday at Batlground. Brandon and Dan will be doing all the fabricating, except for the nitrous lines Ill be doing those. For those of you that have seen pictures of the new AMS evo setup, the manifold is going to look something like that. I cant wait.
