My dad thinks with 140,000 miles, and with me wanting to coat/paint calipers the next time I get em serviced, I should take a look into the costs of new calipers before I go thru the trouble on the stock ones. thoughts?
no need to replace them if they are working properly. just have them checked the next time you do you brakes or when you take them off to paint them
What he said ^^^. you don't have to remove the calipers to paint them. Just mask off around them and you can do it with them still on the car. That's how I did mine.
Rebuilding the calipers is straightforward and easy. I even have a rebuild kit that we can see if it will work on your calipers. I bought them for an 04 WRX setup, so not sure if the bugeye is the same or different. Should be the same.
nifty. ...did you typo? my 04 isn't a bugeye. ;p thats fine, except the paint i wanted to use requires curing. Also, going to change pads and brake lines and paint wheels. figured might as well dress em up as well.:wiggle:
I left me car on Jack Stands overnight when I did it, but if you are doing all those other things, might as well just paint them with them off the car.
