Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I just got a bugeye last week and love it so far!

Will be modding a little bit. Any tips about the car? Anything will help.

    Thanks

Geez, all theses bugeyes are popping up after mines dies, lol! Congrats on the purchase.

Adding to what FkUiHdCncr said, read before you mod! There is lots of information here that can take your 02 a long way. Umm....certain used parts are a good investement on these cars (ECU, Exhaust parts, etc.).

THE MOST IMPORTANT TIP EVER: Wave when you see another subie owner, if you dont, they will do a U-turn and a chase you down!

My avatar is really the only pic I have. I didn't take it, but it still looks that clean. I'm gonna take some pics soon though.

Airmax, I was the one who had just looked at your car before the unfortunate happened....

I think I am going to go exhaust as my first mod. Maybe a Cobb cat-back...? Then Christmas comes and I'm looking for a Cobb access port and sway bars.

Obviously the smart thing is to do brakes / suspension first, but you can do TBE, up pipe, and EM for not too much and it sure is fun!

There is a ton of info online between here, NASIOC, Scoobymods to do pretty much everything.

If you haven't seen it - this is good reading:

    http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=533787

The other specific sub forums at NASIOC also have good info in the stickies.

I don't tend to have much luck with searches on NASIOC - generally too many hits.

You can get a shop manual here:
    http://wrxatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4358

I did stage 2 buying a used APv1 ($300), a used STI up pipe (or a gutted one), and used TBE ($200 or so catless DP + STI cat back- 100 or less). That is cheap power! The up pipe is a PITA, but necessary for safety in doing stage 2. Apparently the cat in the up pipe may fragment and damage the turbo if you go stage 2 without removing it.

Go easy on the launched with the tranny though. I have the weaker narrow gears and haven't had a problem, but I don't do clutch dump 6K launches either.

    Good luck!

I still have the shift knob if you want it (check your messages here and personal email).

Follow everyones advice, get good tires, brakes, and suspension. Enjoy your stay!

I'm really not mechanically inclined so I probably will have someone put my mods on for me. Anyone know anyone who has good prices?
