I got an '02 WRB Wagon a few weeks ago. I it has about 60k and bought from someone in Suwanee. Love the car. Over the past couple of weeks managed to complete the 60K service with a few bloody knuckles from the spark plug change. Car is stock and plan to keep it that way (may add a boost gauge). I live in Johns Creek area and have 2 kids age 3 and 6. I decided I wanted to get a Subaru as I have always been interested in them since the WRX came out (avid reader of R&T and C&D). I also needed 4 doors with the kids. Before the Suby, drove a stock Integra GSR ('94) for many years with a few "dark" years driving a Toyota Avalon (when I thought I needed a "family" car). Anyway, loving the Suby. The only other thing pending is that during pre buyer inspection SOG noted that the Center Diff needed replaced. I think I am just going to wait it out (it has a little noise, but no performance issue now) and look for a used (and hopefully upgraded) tranny when it does go. They wanted about $2200 for just the Diff. I hope for not too much more, I can get an upgraded gearset in a used tranny.
Welcome to the boards. I'm sure you could find someone to help swap diff's (should you decide to DIY). :wavey:
Thanks for the replies. I think dropping the tranny is a bit beyond my scope unless someone is willing to lend a lift and a day or 2 of expert help. Hopefully it will be awhile down the road. Anyone ever had experience with Soverign Automotive in Alpahretta / Roswell. I had the owner - Bob - there give me a second opinion on the tranny issue. Seemed very nice. They are mostly a Sabb shop, but have done Subies since the 92-X's came along. I found them because they advertise in my local free paper.
Good to see another '02 - and about the same mileage! I don't think that I have any diff issues, tho.
Welcome. This may be your lucky day. I have been doing some driving up 138 between Conyers and Monroe to do some inspections on our church contruction and noticed that at this one junk yard there looks to be a 02-03 wagon that I can see from the road. It has front end damage from a wreck, but it may be worth looking to see if the trans could work in your case. I will try and get the name and number next time I drive by it. Andy
ha-ha... that's what you think. wait till someone parts-out for cheap welcome aboard, good luck with your diff!
Sorry it took so long, I never drive that way home. The place is called Nemore Rex. 770-786-9775 or 800-745-0272. Sat map. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q...83.909862&spn=0.008566,0.019956&t=h&z=16&om=1
Welcome to the family.:wavey: Glad to see another Subaru family... we are expecting our first. Talk to Will at SoG or PM him (WJM) on here...he's always got random parts and he can get you headed down the right track for getting you all fixed up with the diff issue. I'll say it too...good luck with keeping it stock.:keke: Hope to see you around!
