hi guys... i`m running on 225/50/16 hankook rs2, and it`s been about a year since i`ve had them on the car. here are some reasons why i would not buy these again:

    1. VERY loud... any speed over 40mph gets very loud, although not as loud as the BF Goodrich equivalent.

    2. it grips insanely, but you have to pump it up +45psi to get any kind of grip.. after that the sidewalls become really stiff and the ride becomes too firm..

    3. it doesnt like to get beat up... after even a little bit of spirited run, you can physically see the wear. very soft tires.

From these verdicts, i have realized that the ultimate summer tires maybe too harsh and impractical for my DD, and i am now considering a set of yokohama s-drives.

however, my dark side is telling me that i can take the beating and expense to persuade me to buy a set of the dunlop direzzas :naughty:

my question would be, are the s-drives sticky enough to be matched with the ultimate grip tires while giving me more comfort and last me longer? (obviously it wont grip as well, but if it is only slightly worse, i am glad to buy a set of the yoko).. or should i gamble on the new direzzas and hope that these will be a little better on the wear and comfort compared to the hankooks.....????

if your leaning toward the dark side get some bridgestone RE01r tires!! great grip, decent ride, good in the rain.

According to this tirerack test the yokohamas are a little better than the dunlops although i am surprised that the fuzion and the kumho's are supposedly the best in that test. Between the dunlops and the yokohamas i would choose the yokohama's simply because they have superior grip.

That being said, i might get a set of kumho spt's myself because they performed even better in the test than these two are they're cheaper.

I've had the azenis 615 on my car, they handle great in the dry, until they get overheated, they have poor wet traction, and the worse thing is they wear really fast. The Bridgestone RE01r are great track/autox tires but they wear too fast to be a daily driver in my opinion.

Ultimate grip...Yoko\Advan Neova AD07s....if you want to step it down just a little then the Sdrives are great, I got to demo a set of the Sdrives and they are awesome.

For a daily tire, the S-Drives are sweet. My wife has them on her IS300. It's not at track tire but that's what you sound like you are looking for.
