Has anyone checked out the Carbing line of Strut tower braces and undercarriage braces? They look mean, and they don't have any pivot joints. http://www.tein.com/okuyama_carbing.html
nice looking!!!! don't know if it's worth $300 though for a strut brace.....or does that include the full set?.....
that's what I said, its only for 1, but its the only one I've seen that doesn't pivot. hopefully they'll come down in $$.
my bad, i thought you were talking about strut braces and undercarrage braces....hopefully the price will come down then....
I think that came out wrong, I meant that's what I said to myself when I looked at the price...its high for just one brace sorry
no pivot = loose fit No car is perfect or built the same so something has to give (adjust) Once you tighten down the pivots its quite tight Or you can DIY tighten it down and mount it and then remove it and weld it. then place it back on car (hopefully didnt warp)
i don't wanna come off the wrong way, but tower braces are pretty pointless on our cars. take a look at how close the shock tower is to the pillars. not really neccessary, unless you like the look. now if those towers were about a foot forward, then it would start really making a difference. there's a lot of other handling mods you can do with that money to tighten up the feel.
Id expect a little bit of warping. Nothing a hammer couldnt fit though Also its important to know that the front strut bar does almost nothing on our cars. The strut towers are so close to the firewall that the difference is negligable.
you are right in many ways But never the less sheet metal flexes the best strut bar i would assume would be the triple point one. I got a std one for $18 ebay special Its stainless steeeeelllllll its plenty stiff my ebay strut bar
It is a complete waste of money. If you are looking for under the hood bling, then go for it. If you are looking for performance, don't waste your money.
yes it does but i doubt it would be noticable unless ur running a very aggressive suspension setup with real wide race rubber
The front offers virtually no support. If you must, get the rear. Otherwise, put that money towards sways and consider not having to buy strut bars a christmas gift from Subaru.
Well the stiffer the springs/shocks/coilovers the more of an effect it has. The brace is only to stiffen the chassis to make it feel more together in turns. Don't expect it to do what a front swaybar does. I just got a custom FSTB made and I love it. It's a little bit different than the generic ones because it's got 2 braces that connect to the firewall stiffening it even more. I notice the bar upon immediately putting it in. But after driving a little while with it I can't even tell anymore as it's just part of my everyday driving habit now.
