finally the new turbo, injectors and EBCS are going into my baby... the best time for people helping me out is the weekend of august 27th... unfortunately will probably miss the mountain run but i really need this done before nopi looks like we'll start working on it friday night and finish up sometime saturday... need an extra day (sunday) just in case things don't go right since the rex is my daily driver
Milo. I'll be late Friday (like after 12am) because of prior commitments that night but happy to help you out afterwards! I can't wait to see what happens when that turbo goes in. Let me know if you think you'll be working that late and into the morning. I think I'm free most of Sat as well.
yep... its the super 16g... as for the install, i'll be working at kris' convenience... tentative plans are to start friday night and work until we need to pass out... then finish up the rest on saturday
milo depending on how my spring install goes I might not be going on the mountain run. If that is the case I can give you a hand, I've put in a couple turbos and mbcd's so I should be able to help out. PS are you doing this at you place.
we plan to start working friday night... better to work when its cooler... probably will be up pretty late... an experienced hand is always welcome... dunno how much parking space is available at kris'... maybe he could chime in on this
BTW, he's not far from the awesome-est thai restaurant there is... could grab some grub there before starting to take stuff apart.
yea..i dont have tons of room but i could probably accomodate 5 or 6 people/cars in the driveway..and a few more if they park in the street..if you plan on showing up post here or send me a pm
I should be able to come over for a while... checked w/ the missus and we don't have anything going on Friday. If there are any particular tools you need let me know and I'll see if I have 'em.
i think i have all the tools needed..if anyone has a bug zapper to bring over for the night that might be nice..especially if we want to open the garage up then we dont have to worry about the skeeters..oh and if it gets to late for anyone to drive home i have a few places available for people to stay the night
damn fellas. i didnt get home till 4 am. what time did you wrap it up milo? im glad everything went well!
ended up going to bed frustrated at 5.30 am after using the rubber o-rings that came with the PE800s, we had massive fuel leaks from the front 2 injectors... fuel was dripping from the part where the rails feed the injectors... woke up next morning and replaced the injectors 4-5 times experimenting with larger o-rings... (by the way, once the green brackets are off, swapping injectors is cake)... finally got the front passenger side to seal but when putting the driver's side rail on, i ended up ripping threads from the block... im sure it wasnt cross threaded or over torqued... the bolt offered as much resistance as the other bolts but suddenly got real easy to turn... damn aluminum block... the driver's side front still leaks... however, instead of dripping, its a thin spray now and if we apply pressure on the rail, then the leak stops... hopefully rethreading it and replacing the bolt is all we need to do... since the car is not drivable and we can't fix this problem ourselves, i had it towed to SOG... hopefully they can get the problem solved easily and i can get it tuned tomorrow on the brghter side of things, EBCS install was cake... also the new turbo co-operated nicely and fell right into place thanks to kris, christer, ankur, amol, anand, jason, jason, jt and mindy for stopping by and offering help and moral support
I bet that once you get that bolt hole helicoiled/recoiled everything will be nice and tight, no leaks. Can't wait to see how the car runs when done.
good luck with getting the rails and injectors done! Sorry to hear that they were such a problem, but at least ther rest dropped in nicely.
http://www.roadstarmagazine.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=233 There is a neat article on how the helicoil process will go
the johnathan and daniel at SOG tapped new threads and put a new bolt in... the leak didnt stop so they pulled the injector... found a torn o-ring... after replacing it, the leak stopped... then the fun tuning process began i love this new turbo scott tuned it for a bit today but it started raining pretty hard so we had to cut it short... i have another tuning session scheduled on the 16th... then he'll tweak the 'daily driver' map he worked on today and also work on a race map... plus i'll get it dyno'd the turbo is AWESOME... from the last data log, it hits 11 psi at 3000, 14.5 psi at 3500 and full boost of 20 psi at 3700... i can feel the 'punch' at 3500 and it pulls real hard all the way to redline inspite of a boost taper up top... can't wait to finish tuning the race map and get it dyno'd big thanks to scott (tuning) and neil (service) at SOG... they've always taken good care of me and i strongly recommend them... johnathan and daniel (techs) did an awesome job fixing my mistakes in under 2 hours :bigthumb: PS: i think the black knight is louder now :naughty:
Glad to hear that everything turned out fine for you (good crew at SOG). Sounds like that turbo is already alot of fun, and Scott hasn't even finished his magic yet! Just wait until he's done, then you won't be able to wipe that grin off your face. Next step.....some meth injection. That's what i'm think'n. Congrats... ~Gary
thanks guys... yeah scott asked me to start thinking of meth injection... since i can switch maps with ecutek, i can have one pump gas map and one meth map... but its gonna be a while before i do that... first need to save up for new clutch... dunno how long this one will last
Glad everything turned out okay.... very interested to see what you will be putting down now... maybe you should upgrade your clutch? -drums
i'll upgrade it when it starts to go... which could be anytime now since im still on my first stock clutch
Aw i have to wait till nov or dec to get a ride Scott and doug both have me thinking about a new turbo....
