no where new to georgia, marietta or cars but am a first time suby owner. i just bought a 04 wrx wagon. its stock with 86k miles. will be looking to mod it soon. i co-own a mobile mechanic business in the area and love building cars. my last one i built was a 95 trans am putting down over 500 rwhp. i am a gm fan at heart but love anything performance wise. what are so good starting mods im planning on a turbo and intercooler uprade as well as exhaust and suspension.
suspension brakes then power is good way to start... exhaust and engine management ( cobb access port ) are some good starts... there are a good bit of people in the marietta area... welcome to the site!
thanks one of my friends that i havent talked to in awhile had a nice one but he totaled it behind marshall's on barrett a few years back
Welcome sir, do some searches, things will pop up. Also, make sure and make it out to the mountain run so you can meet all of us in person Mountain Run
Welcome to the boards. You should come on the mountain run. Good times and great ppl. Let me know if you have questions about wagon suspension, or power.
is there any issues with the transfer case on the 04 wrx wagons because after 2 hours of driving it is whining and it wheel hops
Welcome to the site. There is no real transfer case on these cars. It is all contained in the transmission and the tranny actually has 2 differentials in it...front and center. The WRX transmissions are not the strongest in the world. In fact they are notorious for popping gears and diffs (more gears than diffs). The solution to this is to either convert to a solid 6 speed from an Sti or to install either PPG or M-Factory gears. The RA gears used to be popular, but there have been quite a few people that have torn them up too...findings show that the gear faces themselves are not any wider than the 03+ stock gears. As for power mods, if you are looking to go serious, start with the transmission first and then your car should be able to hold most anything you throw at it. TBE and the Cobb AP version 2 are a good start. From there the sky (and your wallet) is the limit.
well i took it to the kennesaw dealership it had aftermarket front axels and it made the front diff bind and needs a new trans now. waiting for the car lot to call me back. if i can get a check from them i would like to do the sti swap but if it goes to a dealership i know i wont get that
Let me know what happens with the transmission. I have a couple of options for you if the dealership falls through for you. I have a couple of front diffs and complete stock 5mt's if you need one.
Welcome. You honestly sound like Breel's evil twin Co-own a shop drive a wagon Muscle car fan at heart please tell me you don't have red hair too? jk man, good luck on the diff, Mike's got enough parts to build a another subaru so if the stealership flakes on you, he's a good back up.
well i dont have a shop i do mobile repair or do it at my home if a big job. god knows i need a shop. as a matter of fact i have a red tint to my hair lol
You as well. Liquidforce probably has all kinds of stock stuff if you decide to go that route too! He has a small subaru used parts shop at this house, lol.
