Not sure what the "races" are but 200mm is pretty short for most sports related stuff unless you can get up close.

  3. 200mm isnt that bad. I havent been with many photographers that have used anything over that for the most part. Ive been to events such as Formula D, SCCA, and a few private track days.

Only time I could see a use for something over 200mm is a very large circuit such as Road Atlanta.

yeah, I have the 70-200 for my Cannon and it will get you closer shots than the lens that came with but is no super zoom by any means.

  5. A bunch of people are renting the drag strip on the coast this coming up weekend and I really wanted to make sure I got some nice good clean shots. and wasn't sure about the lens needed.

  6. Youll be fine.

Oh yeah, for drags you won't have a problem. :)

  8. Right now I got Nikkor 28-80mm F/3.3-5.6, Nikkor 70-300mm f4-5.6 G,
Nikkor 50 mm f/1.8D AF Lens

Will my 70-300 do just as good? Its going to be mostly day time running and alittle during the night but the lights are nice and bright and I got all access to the track.
