Noise from my dp/turbo

Ok, for starters I have a ticking sound coming from what I think is the dp or the turbo. My setup is a 02 WRX with stoke turbo and up pipe with down pipe and full 3" exhaust all catless. The sound is there on deceleration usually around lower rpm's, 700~1300, and always on deceleration.

My question is this. Would a heat wrap work this noise out, and more or less get the sound any lower? If so, where to get this at?

Take a look at the exhaust and make sure it's not touching anything. If it is barely touching, heatwrap may help. But keep in mind, it will increase the physical diameter of the pipe losing what little clearance you had before. It also might change the metallic tapping noise to more of a pounding type noise with the heatwrap.

Well that sucks, but its not touching anything. Theres a bracket on the side but its not even close to being in the right spot to hook to the tranny, the hangers are in the rear (two) and 1 in the middle of the cat back section. There is a bolt in the end of the dp also.

But like I said, theres a hanger for a bolt to go into the side of the tranny, but nowhere near close enough.

I have heard the noise something like air or gases moving through the dp, I would like for it to be less noticeable though. I thought that by wraping the dp it might help some.

    Thanks

  4. Is it the wastegate flutter?

Umm..... My RPM's never really get that low whenever I'm decelerating. Your engine could be shuttering and wanting to shut off. Does it do it at idle also?

yes at part throttle, my wastegate flutter is very loud, like a ticking almost, but once you get boosting it does away as the wastegate shuts. Also my dp mount on my invidia is not bolted in to the car and i think it's buzzing too, have you checked that one? it's like a hook almost that holds up the bracket on the dp on my car and if it's not bolted it will just vibrate around in there.
